Hi all. Does anyone know which banks do not require bank statements for a kortgage application? Do Halifax require these? I already have a mortgage with them but looking to take out a new one. Thanks in advance.

Are you talking physical bank statements or proof of outgoings ? I'm sure some of the (I)FA's on the board may give examples but there's not likely to be many who don't want to see proof of affordability ?

Is the issue lack of statements or what the statements will show ?

Physical bank statements yes. I just wanted to check as I have seen that Halifax are carrying out checks in other ways to check affordability as opposed to requesting physical bank statements.

Most will accept PDFs, physical bank statements on paper are not usually required anymore.

Does anyone know if Halifax definitely ask for statements? Or do they do their checks differently?

    There is no definite.
Some lenders (Halifax are one of them) can offer mortgages without the need for bank statements. But I have applications that have gone through them where bank statements are needed.

They all reserve the right to ask for them. General rule of thumb though is if you are employed and under maybe 75% LTV, its less likely you will need to provide bank statements than if you were self employed at 95% LTV.

Halifax definitely needed bank statements a few years ago when I applied.

    What's the issue with them?
