Do HMRC verification services ever go down?

Hiya - I encountered something very strange while trying to track down a form A1 submission today - I was unable to pass my verification checks when calling the HMRC NI helpline.

As far as I can tell my the check failed at either my birthdate or name, but as I've been dealing with various HMRC business units by phone for about 10 years I'm pretty sure all my details are correct.

Therefore does anyone know if HMRC systems go down such that you'll fail your verification check when calling them, but the agent won't let you know that it's due to an issue with them?

As a secondary aside, I'm also not able to verify my identify using my HRMC online account - submitting my UK passport and UK driver's licence details failed the verification check.
