My son was given a hot wheels Monster Jam car for christmas. We simply couldn't get it to work ....... It has now completely jammed up and refuses to do anything !!
Where should I return this to?
There are no Argos type stickers....... or should I write to Mattel and tell them how disappointed my little boy is??
TIA

Ditto Satan - ask the person who gave it to you where it came from, as it is faulty you should not need a receipt to return it, it must be fairy evident that it is new especially as you have probably still got the box as well.
Good luck. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Thanks I have decided to contact Mattel after the Christmas break. I now feel that the toy is not only faulty but dangerous.
Several of the screws were 'slack' which allowed other bits to splay and get permanently 'caught'. Thank goodness fingers weren't caught or trapped.
Thanks for your replies

We bought the bigger version and it also stopped working - but missus just found a slder on the back axis called a 'gear selector' sliding this to the number 2 cured ours and traction was restored - not sure if you have this on yours though (there is a picture in the manual but no explanation what its for).Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives.:j0

Thanks for you suggestion. You inspired me to take another look at it and I simply made it worse. Still well and truly jammed but the plastic is now looking 'stressed' in certain areas.
Ho hum...

If I were you I'd give Mattel a call (01628 500303) and explain the situation, they will probably give you a free post address to send it back.0

You could take any plastic/carrier bag from the store it came from back to the store (with the toy obviously, lol) and if they give you an hassle say the bag counts as proof of purchase. I honestly have no idea how accurate this is, but a trading standards officer came to my school to give a talk a few years ago (have just left uni now) and he said that while most shops/ppl think/argue that a receipt is the only valid proof of purchase this is not true, he listed a bunch of other things but the bag is the only one I remember.
I've done this myself several times and have had shop assistants try to say the bag doesn't count as proof of purchase, but the second I say "well trading standards told me it was..." they give me a receipt or exchange. not the kind of thing you should rely on all the time, but it has worked when I've had 'emergencies' where i've lost the receipt. if it has a bar code, and you're sure it came from a specific shop, they can usually run the bar code against their stocklists, but this mightn't work if you, say, take it back to argos outlet A when it was bought from argos outlet B.Win 2008 in 2008 member number.....237!!! How can a bag count as proof of purchase when you have just said to take back any plastic/carrier bag. That just shows you have or someone has shopped at that shop before.0
