  • Buy a cheap blade coffee grinder.

Then buy a decent burr grinder leaving you with something that is great for grinding spices but pisspoor for coffee beans.

Had a look at the KG79 (managed to find it just with the model number) and it looks OK.
This one is a bit cheaper.  Would it be any good?
I honestly haven't a clue whether that's okay. You'd have to take it apart to know how robust it is and how well it grinds. The KG79 is not very robust in my view, so the one you found may be better. It has good reviews on amazon, but I doubt any reviewers are trying to grind 250 grams in one go.

I grind just the amount of coffee I need for the brew I'm making. Ground coffee tends to deteriorate, so I wouldn't want to grind 250 gms in one go.

You asked whether you should get a manual grinder. Those may be okay for small amounts of coffee, but you'll be grinding for ages to grind up 250 gms - maybe an hour!.

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

We have a burr grinder at home, but we have a holiday home where we have a blade grinder. I can achieve quite  a fine and consistent grind with it, but that does involve shaking it whilst it is grinding and turning it upside down. I wouldn't say that it tastes burnt.

With the burr grinder, I just press a button, and the machine does the rest.

The burr grinder sounds good. Do you happen to know which one it is?

I'm not going to do that amount at once (as in putting that amount in the grinder at a time), just do it all one morning and I'm set for the week. Hopefully that makes sense.
