From the list I see that the branch in Richmond with a DL10 postcode is slated to shut in December of this year.I wonder if Rishi Sunak can be persuaded to prevent that particular branch shutting?Or he might not be PM by the time of the proposed shutdown. Should be fun to watch.0

By the time the full list of closures take effect - there will be just 3 branches left in the entirety of South Wales - one in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea. It wasn't long ago that nearly every valleys town had a Barclays. I know all the big banks are closing left, right and centre - and we're all going online - but it's certainly losing the personal touch - I wonder if there'll come a point where the closures will have been deemed to have gone too far. Calling the helpline always gives the message 'we are busier than usual' and 'have you checked our website?'. Is this a customer centric approach moving forwards? Or simply a bean-counting exercise to save cost with a short-sighted outlook. Time will tell.3

And the "we're busier than usual" line on the phone is one of the most overused fibs you'll ever hear. I guess it sounds better than "We've cut our support team to the bone so you'll have to wait for an hour".4 -

After 35 years with Barclays, my local branch changed to having just two members of staff available to serve customers. One was for business customers, the other directed customers to use the two new computer terminals. My mission at the bank was to change a ten pound note into ten pound coins. Obviously the computer couldn't help with that, and the girl who was supposed to help was busy talking with her colleague at the business-only counter for a good ten minutes. While waiting, I read the notice on the wall to press certain buttons to ask for help, which would alert the girl via her ipad. She ignored the alert, and then went to the back of the queue to see if anyone needed help, working her way forward. I stood at the front of the queue for a further ten minutes, and decided Barclays no longer wanted me as a customer. I see it's listed for closure, but frankly, am surprised my branch has lasted this long.
