    That said, ewaste makes a good point that it's not 100% clear (given the OP hasn't confirmed what the receiving scheme is) that we are actually talking about a DB to DB transfer...

    Indeed, however ewaste made a good point that just because the OP's current scheme is also DB doesn't entail that any transfer in would purchase additional DB benefits. The USS and SAUL are relatively high profile open private sector DB schemes where transfers in nowadays go into the DC section, even if the member doesn't normally contribute to it.

    I don't know if we are talking about the same think but i was told i would have to pay an £8k fee to assess whether i could switch mine have also lost so much value in the last 6-12 months. damn

    Do you mean that you have a deferred pension valued over £30,000 in a Defined Benefits Pension Scheme and you wished to transfer it to a DC scheme?
