Personally, even if I was so fabulously wealthy that SJP fees didn't even dent my portfolio, I would rather use an IFA and donate the savings to worthy causes.  I would rather help homeless dogs than line their pockets.

I can understand why people use them though.  If you don't look at the numbers too closely then I am sure it is very comforting to have someone who comes across like a friendly professional, that can ease your mind about your financial affairs and has all the time in the world for you.  At least until the money runs out anyway.
