really, you are having to ask??

He (inadvertently) saved you a lot of money so write him a thank you letter / card & give a bottle or a box of chocolates or biscuits.

If you had saved someone a lot of money I suspect you would like to be thanked.
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

It is entirely up to you - and should not be affected by what anyone else has done.
If it makes you feel happier - and that you have had to ask about it suggests it would - then why wouldn't you?

Slightly confused by which neighbour you’re referring to? The neighbour who did the report or the neighbour who sold and moved? I’m thinking it’s the latter. Or are they the same person? If so, it’s a poorly worded dilemma as it looks like you’re referring to two different neighbours!

I don’t think you owe them anything. If anything, I’m amazed you have to still be resident at the property to get a rebate, surely this should be treated like any tax rebate and, whilst it’s council tax, it’s still a tax and where you live to claim the rebate is completely irrelevant?
  • Yes give him some money . You got £8000.
