    Its quite possible lenders would dig deeper. For me as a broker, there are all sorts of red flags when these enquiries hit my desk. Thats not to say I dont do them asI do. But I do various other checks. 

    If your income is enough in your current role, why not apply on that basis?

    There are cases of the self-employed joining a friend's business for a few months to get hold of pay slips and evidence of salary payments on bank statements and then returning to self-employment later as they never intended to stop. As ACG said, this is a well-known deception lenders and brokers look for.

    Genuine applicants should have no problem meeting any increased requirements.
