@teapot2 your poor cat. My little cat is terrified of most things so I have sympathy and was entranced myself to see how much she enjoyed the window cleaner She normally runs and hides at everything.
The VNM's mother's cat does have a cat flap but has never used it to anyones knowledge. I've decided to see if I can do something about her this week as the weather has got so much colder and my little once feral was curled up on my duvet this morning and I felt sad to think of her cat almost abandoned. It was ok in the hot weather because I found her sunbathing a few times and she was happy but if she is still not using the cat flap then I feel I should do something so I will put in a fortnight of concerted effort. I've spoken to a charity who said send pictures so I will get some at the weekend. VNM's mother should have made more of an effort when she got this cat years ago rather than just letting her remain frightened of people and it makes me cross she did not but there we are. I'm going to see what I can do rather than bury my head in the sand.
@greenbee I've no idea why I had a box of chestnut flour in the cupboard. I've a lot of other random flours too (a huge bag of gram flour, another of potato flour and another of rice flour) so I plan using them up in this "eat the cupboads" phase too. Sausage stew in the slow cooker to serve with frozen peas later. This stage is easy - I can't help but wonder what I'll be eating by the end of the monthMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I make black olive and rosemary farinata with the chickpea flour. Also scarpaccia (good for using up courgettes!). If you find anything interesting to make with rice flour, let me know as I have lots to use, and tend not to as I function better on low carb foods.4

ohh I looked up a recipe for that and it sounds delicious, I have green olives I think in the use up section so I might try those. I can see that being made as I've printed out the instructions! I'm not an inventive cook so that was a very welcome idea.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I think I stuck canned artichokes on the last lot of farinata!3

@greenbee, I looked up scarpaccia (courgette season!) and couldn’t find any recipes that use gram flour - do you just sub it for plain wheat flour? It is something I’ve come across before, but sounds lovely and always glad of another courgette recipe.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I also make courgette and halloumi or feta fritters, but am too lazy to fry so use an egg poaching ring to make ‘burgers’ and bake them. Just ignore any ideas about it being a batter, and keep the mix fairly dry.3

Am going to look out for courgettes locally - a lot of my neighbours give them away at this time of year.
The VNM's mother's neighbour has been texted about the cat to make sure she is still feeding her and to see how her plans for re-homing her have come along. I've realised I don't mind the cat being 'sold' because if someone pays for her they will most likely care for her. What I mind is the cat just sleeping outside at this time of year and being "abandoned". She has a cat flap apparently when it was pegged open other neighbour cats came in but she won't use it shut (the patio door was always open so she could go in and out at will).
My little once feral cat had made a little nest in the duvet at the foot of my bed and has now come downstairs to the office. I'd have another but WattyDog would not live with a cat that goes in and out. He is appalling with anything in "his" gardens. This morning was loudly telling off the pigeons. Apparently he owns the air space too!

Cat update: she is fine but runs off whenever the neighbour feeding her gets near. The neighbour has realised she is going to be difficult to rehome because she is so timid, has decided against keeping her and will call some rescues. I know rescues are already overwhelmed so I'm going to up efforts again to find little Annie a home.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
