My pension pot not being festive at all

I know there are many threads on the ups and downs of pension pot values but good heavens, this morning I got an unwelcome surprise. I have a RL Governed Portfolio 5 personal pension and I note the value at the end of each month.

On Nov 30th it stood at £163k and I took an early look on Friday (thinking it wouldn’t move much over the long bank holiday weekend, hah!) and it stood at £169k. What a happy surprise.

This morning I was doing my month-end numbers so I checked the value again and it stands at £156k. As a drop from £163k it’s unwelcome but as a drop from £169k it seems excessively un-festive.

It may just be a systems / reporting thing but is anyone aware of something about either the markets or my product that could explain this behaviour?

I wonder if you have investments in middle east/arabic countries whose trading days differ to those in the UK/USA.

I'm with RL Gov Portfolio 2, checked mine after reading your post. Have dropped from 268k Friday , showing 249k today.
But if you drop down the investment tag it still shows fridays figure and states your investment as of 02/01/2024.
If you drop down the Value Tap it may show you the 156k figure  and dated 02/01/2023 as mine shows 249k
I'm assuming it is showing the value of one calendar year ago.

The latest info from Trustnet shows a 3% increase in fund price over the past month corresponding to your £169 figure.  From its underlying investments and past behaviour the fund is not very volatile. BBC News is not announcine anything and in any case fund prices can be published a day or more after markets have closed.

The gap seems much too large for a lump suym charge.

So I would guess a data update error.

I just checked with someone that has GP4 and the headline value is down by nearly 1% but down only 0.05% on the unit valuess according to the website.  However, the RL valuation API is still returning Friday's value.

Checking valuations on non-working days can give false or conflicting data.

Thank you both! I’ve just re-checked my fund value and yes, on the Value tab it shows as ‘£156k on 02/01/23’ and this tallies with what I have in my spreadsheet for that month. However, in the investments tab the total is £169k

I guess their system hasn’t recovered yet from Christmas  and it seems that my fund has actually increased £13k over 2023 and I’ve been drawing down £500 a month since April. Happy days are back.
