Good morning looking for help re a debt

hi there hoping for some advice, i have just had a default put on my crerdit file yesterday from JC international acquisition. They said its to do with an un returned SKY box from 2021.
I sent this back when i closed the account and heard nothing however they say they cant remove the default without proof of postage which i obviously dont have. 
They said they sent emails but ive only just found these in a junk folder or i would have dealt with it 
I cant get through to speak to someone as it just goes to answer machine, i spoke to C.A.R.S who say they are acting on their behalf but its JC that i need to speak to. 
Sky says they sold it and dont deal with it anymore. 

Im so annoyed my credit file is perfect otherwise 
Any advice on what i can do?

Hi 

I am in the exact same circumstances. 

I cancelled my sky box in May 2021, returned the box in August 2021, did not hear back from Sky until an email was received  in October 2023 stating my debt had been sold to JC Acquisition, less than 2 months later a default has been issued with a date of August 2021. Again Sky are refusing to deal with the matter as they state the debt was sold on and I cant get hold of JC Acquisition. 

Any advice? I am in the middle of a mortgage application.
