Ok. Avoid IVA/bankruptcy then. Stepchange always suggest BS because they lobbied hard for it and want to show that it's useful. It isn't.

Just pay the priority debts for now and plan to start a dmp when you have an emergency fund saved and regular surplus income

You asked about apps. There might be threads here that someone can recommend. I use Shoppix and like it a lot. Also snap my eats. I used to use receipt hog. There's also Storewards.

Shopmium has some vouchers off purchases. Might be worth looking for things you'd buy anyway or want to try.

For surveys, I think people rate Populus or adorning like that. You Gov take ages to pay out but its interesting. Valued Opinions.. again take a look around here for recommendations.

Try and get into Nielson shop and scan panel or whatever it is called now?

Use topcashback or quidco for things you have to buy.

I don't do a huge amount of surveys these days, but I do find Prolific Academic useful as can earn £30 to £50 a month depending on how much time I choose to spend on surveys. I like that I'm contributing to people's academic research & the subject matter can be quite varied. YouGov interesting but takes a long time to reach the £50 cash-out.

  • From what others have said I’m not sure Prolific are taking on new members at the moment - if you can get onto the panel though they are definitely the best of the bunch at the moment in my view.

Yeah, agree with that EH. A few weeks ago I signed up to both Y Live and Opinium, and I've had just one survey between them so I think I will ditch them both soon if things don't pick up. With Prolific, on the other hand, I've just reached £1,100 since starting with them in September 2022, and every cash-out I do gets pooled with my bank round-ups to chip away at my remaining debt every few days. It's amazing how addictive it can get trying to get the figure down, and is a great mindset to get into if you are in this situation.

OP - if you sign up (or get an a waiting list) with Prolific, then it can be really fruitful. There is a dedicated Prolific thread on the Boost Income board.

I use Y Live and usually earn 3-4 payouts of £50 a year. They will be funding my 2024 holiday in full!
  • If you work Monday - Friday at the car dealership, ask to pick up the Sunday shift as well, its less hours than the Saturday shift but potentially more sales, easier to get extra work where you are than starting to work for a delivery company where you will need to amend your car insurance to cover it

Car dealerships generally aren't Monday - Friday for Sales related jobs (if only!).

Using a company car for evening deliveries will not be permitted by the insurance and therefore will void the insurance.

Working overtime in the environment the OP is in, will only be beneficial if a sale is made (the risk the OP would need to take) as I imagine, if like my company, the basic salary would not be paid.

A second temporary job in the evening could provide additional legitimate income if necessary such as a local convenience store / Tesco etc, often there are 12/16 hour contracts and will soon be above £11.44ph, as a second job will only be taxed at BR and shouldn't pay N.I. 12 hours pw at £11.44ph would work out £439pm, that's a good chunk of money to go straight in to the debt pool.
If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

    Secured/Unsecured loans x 1
    Credit Cards x 8 (total limit £55,050)
Creation FS Retail Account x 1
    Creation Credit Sale 0% x 1 = £112.50pm x 20 mths
    0% Overdraft x 1 (£0 / £250)
    Mortgage Outstanding - £137,707.00 (Payment 13/360)
    Total Debt = £7,400 (0%APR) @ £100pm - Stoozing

  • Your income is low compared to your mortgage.  You need a new job or to take on a 2nd job.
