Hi. Does anyone know how long it normally takes to get the award letter after claiming? Hubby claimed at beginning of November. He's heard nothing. He reaches retirement date on 22 January 2024.

i retired two years ago in january, as your hubby applied at the end of october and received the letter around the second week of january. if on 4 weekly payment his first one will not start for 4 weeks later than his birthday. the day he is paid will depend on his ni number.1

That's reassuring. He never got a claim letter so had to request one online. Now no award letter so wondered if it is all going adrift somewhere. Address details up to date. Hopefully it will appear soon then.Titch

Hi,
Last 2 numbers of NI number Paydaygeordiejon said:i retired two years ago in january, as your hubby applied at the end of october and received the letter around the second week of january. if on 4 weekly payment his first one will not start for 4 weeks later than his birthday. the day he is paid will depend on his ni number.
00 to 19 Monday
20 to 39 Tuesday
40 to 59 Wednesday
60 to 79 Thursday
80 to 99 Friday
So, if your NI number ends with 56, your state pension will begin on the first Wednesday after your SPA.

The award letter usually arrives within a week or two of submitting an on line claim - often a few days after-, how did he submit it ?

He did it online actually on 12th November. We took a screen shot of the confirmation so they definitely got it but not heard a word since.molerat said:The award letter usually arrives within a week or two of submitting an on line claim - often a few days after-, how did he submit it ?Titch
