I thought it might be interesting to note the unavailable items and subs on Christmas orders, to see if any supermarket has done particularly badly.

Asda delivery the other day subbed some crackers and pop for similar ones.
Only sub on Sainsbury's order is they didn't have the 6kg £3 a kilo turkey so have sent a £17 a kilo 2.5kg turkey crown
I hope they don't think I'll be paying for 6kg of turkey and just getting 2.5kg, they can sub and charge me for 2.5kg at £3 a kilo
Will be disappointed people tomorrow because the turkey shelves are bare and they're not getting any more deliveries overnight apparently

Asda Tues no mash and replaced lamb Rogan Josh with two Chicken kormas, annoying korma is the only ruby I wouldn't accept so had to send both back
Thus the reordered mash and ruby and both came,

Used Ocado for many years and very rarely have any missing or substituted items. Today turkey crown out of stock and no substitute. Driver said lots missed this year.1

Sainsbury's on Tuesday, only sub was 1L value apple juice changed to 1L pressed, so I'm happy enough!

I do an Iceland weekly order online for my Mom, only thing missing was a pork pue so no complaints from me.1

Placed a large-ish Ocado order for a friend which was delivered on Friday. The only missing items were Marmite rice cakes and Jacob’s mini cheddars. A small Waitrose order today for the same person had one type of sherry substituted for another but everything else arrived as ordered.I have my own Waitrose order arriving tomorrow morning so we will see how that goes.1

Asda order, only missing item was own brand cola and that's not a problem. I'd opted for no subs with this item.Waitrose. Subbed, cheap selection chocs with posh ones at same price [£10 but charged £5], Parmesan cheese offer subbed with more expensive for same offer price [£4 but charged £3.40], Stilton subbed with similar at same priceAll in all, happy with both outcomesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2

Waitrose order this morning had four missing items: Cranks wholemeal loaf, organic dried apricots (often out of stock at any time of the year), Oatly! oat milk and WR apple and ginger chutney. I had opted not to have substitutions for these. Popped to my local Waitrose and got a loaf of Cranks and a different sort of chutney. I didn’t bother to look and see if they had the other two things as I already have some and was just topping up. It was quite busy in there (less so in the M&S food hall I also went to) but they did have some turkeys and poultry roasting joints left I noticed, which had a lot of people looking at them.I didn’t have any Christmas lunch items in my order (a bird, bread sauce, pigs in blankets etc.) as I either already have them or don’t need them) but I was pleased with the availability in my order. If the bread had come I shouldn’t have gone to a branch today.2
