You do know that even while not earning you can contribute to a pension. £2880 a year which is more than most contribute normally. I've been paying that into DSs for the last couple of years as it gets him £3600 once the tax goes in. The really weird thing is that his pension now shows on his online banking.

Hmmmm, slight issue with not having £2880 per year that's not allocated to summat - despite the tax boost ☹️

Hmm - that is interesting @badmemory - I had no clue that someone else could contribute to your pension! I might ask OH to contribute to mine rather than leave the cash in his ISA! Will have to do some reading about this!

I didn't really think you did anymore than DS would have but it doesn't mean you shouldn't do something. Anything. It is not a good idea for one of you to have more income than the other in retirement & have as much tranferable income as possible finally. Just to have my final say on tax/pension matters (no answer required on here as it is a personal matter) has DH got some of your personal allowance, I think it is 10% you can give him, so an extra £1257 a year that is not taxed (£250). Don't take my word check it out. Preferably before the end of the tax year. Do you remember MYOB well I'll do that now.

badmemory - that I can answer in the affirmative to 😉 We did actually action that some time ago - but thank you for mentioning it, as it could always help someone else reading, so 👍
Tea is going to be wedges, fish fingers and baked beans. We're just waiting for DH to come home, as he's gone via the pharmacy 🙄
Our travel cups have arrived 😁 They look fine. I will get around to testing them just now, not too sure if 7 hours hot is when they are not opened (at all). But they just need to be an improvement on our other cups.
No money spent today, but some essential admin tackled, and I've had a response already, so I'm one step closer to being better organised than I was this morning.
The washing came in mostly touch dry. It has been raining off and on, so the 3 or 4 hrs drying this morning was definitely a bonus. It's on the airer now.
No money spent today.

That is why I mention some things on here because I know that a few of you have so many readers who do not actually post & some find the cutting tax/pensons a little less friendly so they don't even look. They really aren't less friendly but just maybe differently focused. Having been a bookkeeper I suspect I fall down between the cracks.

Right, so I've at least got online access to relevant pension portals for me. I've got to update things, I've done the potential beneficiaries, but I'm still a spinster in my pension providers eyes, so that will have to be rectified tomorrow.
So, I say a big thank you again, for posters who kindly post on my thread, about all manner of subjects. I do always try to listen and learn, and I'm always up for constructive advice, nudging and reminders. I do accept that I am very blessed; but I hope I continually show that I recognise that blessing.

I am relieved to find it's not just my DH and I who tackle cleaning so differently! I'm the detail person who takes several times as long as anyone else, whereas DH spot cleans and is finished in a fraction of the time. My considered opinion is that we balance each other out.
We're both on the cleaning team at church and the team leader was very amused when DH explained that he and I can't be on the same team! But trust me, it works better that way!
