GP - gadgets inside cupboards and drawers don't necessarily help. Sometimes they get in the way. Your own solutions to suit your own use of the kitchen are best. Having said that, I share your pain about a poorly designed kitchen. Mine was clearly not 'designed' by anyone who actually cooks!3

Slightly too brrrr in my neck of the woods this morning! We had frost on the flat roof part of the house and the roof of the summer house!
It is however gorgeously bright and one lot of laundry is already dry! Second load is out on the airer and I can see the mist rising off of it in the dry autumnal air. Third load is in the washer now - OH has managed to dirty every pair of casual trousers he owns and most of his t-shirts!
I'm staying firmly inside today rather than work in the summer house, as I've not yet embraced autumn layering and am rather partial to a heating pad and a warm cup of coffee while I proofread and translate a newsletter for work.
I've been craving pizza but we won't be partaking tonight - rather we are going off-piste and having dinner out! A food truck at a brewery near us could come across as a bit odd for 'date-night', but it is a Canadian-owned food truck and has the nicest authentic Poutine this side of the pond! I am also after some deep-fried pickles and chicken wings, but both of these sold out early the last two times we supported the venture and I was sadly disappointed! They did however stick cocktail sticks with 'my' flag on my dinner which made me smile!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! RT - the only "good" thing about the food truck selling out is that if the "locals" are getting indoctrinated in good eating - then the food truck'll keep coming back, eh? But bad luck on you not getting what you would like to eat. Presumably you can't pre-order? Also, I do not think a food truck is an odd 'date night' choice. If you both like it and it's a treat for you, then that is all that matters. Being able to eat mushroom curry with DH last night was a 'treat', because we were able to enjoy something that had already been made (so not slaving over a stove), and without the accompanying "I don't like mushrooms" that may have occurred had LG been eating with us - although frankly they change their mind about what they do and don't like so frequently, I don't actually know if they would have disliked that particular curry.... 🙄
Does the brewery do good brews?
I've done the cupboard sorting. I did throw a few things away. Y'all will not be surprised to learn that the vast majority was stuff that we'd moved with us from the rental house 🙄 Note to self be.more.ruthless!
Right, onions to coax into being 'hot-dog worthy'......

OH's answer is that the beer is the best bit of the evening, even if it is that American light stuff and not proper ale...
...and his unsolicited opinion about the Poutine is that it is the best way to ruin good proper chips!
I suppose if I think about it from the English perspective - the chips are too skinny, they are covered in cheese with a strange texture and drowned in beef gravy...
...don't get me started on the strangeness of a pork pie 😁😁😁 - I'm still not sure I understand the concept of cold pork in gelatin!
ETA - the thought of browned onions has me salivating! A good dog with mustard, sauerkraut and onions is one of my favorites!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Ha, that's interesting - I don't know what I imagined poutine was but it wasn't that! How interesting.
We used to have chips, cheese & gravy at university - they used to microwave it in the polystyrene to melt the cheese 😮 Looks like poutine is more specific re type of cheese etc, interesting!5 -
Oh RT - you have stirred memories of Wisconsin cheese curds....... mmmmmmmm superdelicioso! I've just looked it up and the (proudly) 'dive bar' where we first encountered them, in the university town i stayed in, still exists! Gravy I ain't so keen on, but ooof - chips and cheese curds....... No wonder I put on weight that semester 🤣🤣
Breezy but bright start to the day. DH's workwear is pegged out. second wash on the go.
DH had wanted to go out on an adventure today. Him suggesting things - particularly a walk - is a rarity. However, he proposed the idea yesterday lunchtime. It would take us over 1hr to get to the place, LG isn't the most ardent walker, and it just seems like it would be alot of prep, for 3 hrs of LG moaning...... so we've not gone. I'm probably shooting myself in the foot, as I certainly would like to do the walk, and want LG to do it too (I was 13 weeks preggers last time I walked the route 🥰), but given I have had to cajole LG along with the walk into/out of Greying Town, I don't think it would be quite the experience DH has in mind.
LG has had a good week at school, and got one of the 'all round good egg' accolades off teacher. We went to the supermercado to pick up a treat of LG's choice, in recognition of their efforts at school, and when we came to enjoy the treat last night, we discovered a 'foreign object' in the product, so that will have to go back 😕 Thankfully we did have some random l/o choc ices in the freezer, but there were tears of disappointment - as it wasn't the same. And what is the point of trying to foster independence of choice, and inclusion in decision making if you're going to be let down by shonky retailing 😕
Right, second wash should be about done, so I best shuffle orf.
