Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc.
It rained all weekend, really miserable and dark, just the weather to make you want to hibernate! Not raining at the moment but I'm sure it will start again soon. At least the strong wind has died down.
Lemon curd made and the last of the presents wrapped. Front bedroom all cleaned and the bed made ready for DS2 and his DP.
Not looking forward to going into the office this morning, my colleague had a run in with the HT so there will be a bit of an atmosphere. Not sure who is right and who is wrong so I'll just keep quiet and get on with things!
Hope your injury is healing Ruby.
Happy new road Gers!
Have a good Monday, take care. XX10 -
The rain was awful for most of yesterday, some parts of the road south flooded with a couple of trees down. I was especially lazy and went to bed after MIB1. Despite feeling mostly toasty in bed I was shivering as my body began to fight off an infection. Half of throat is raspy and my nasal passages blocked, typical of this to start before Christmas. After drinking lots of water and taking a couple of paracetamol the shivering stopped and I slept like a hibernating bear. This morning I'm off to drive north 🎉 my initial plan was to go to the much missed exercise class but it's not a good idea so will visit my friends instead. I'll keep my distance from them even though it'll be lovely to see them. My cleaner is coming too so I'll be out in time to miss her.@Silveroldie - great to see you posting again, welcome back.11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's milder here this morning but the price to pay is a day of light rain.
I have told myself today must be the much postponed mince pie and mince tart making day! I have a jar of M & S luxury brandy and clementine mincemeat which I managed to nab for 70p ( rrp £3.25) as well as a jar of Robertsons nabbed for 35p. Spoilt for choice.
The freezers got a semi tidy and organise yesterday but it's so cold out in the garage the novelty soon wore off! Must resume today as I might find room for the mince pies before I scoff them all. Not much in the way of other cooking to do as I have mash and veg l/o from yesterday.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones or sad. Take care all, be safe xx

Thank you for the welcome back.
Been awake since silly o'clock but that's ‘ normal ‘
Thank you for the suggestions for Christmas, definitely something to think about another year.

Hello all, I've been awake since daft o'clock so will probably have a nana nap later. Dad had the hump yesterday because I wasn't well enough to cut his hair so he sat in the dining room on his own until lunch was ready. DD called in for her parcels and Dad had a job to speak to her too, he was so rude. On his way home he fell backwards going down my front steps, luckily he fell onto the "landing" bit (a flat bit between steps) on his behind, but unfortunately for me as I always hold his arm to steady him, he took me down as well ! I had to get Mr Fix It to help get him back up as he was a dead weight. Thankfully Dad has just a bruised elbow and I have a lovely bruise on my knee plus a few scraped knuckles.
Today I'm going shopping then calling in the surgery, after that who knows what the day will bring.
Silver Oldie lovely to see you posting but I'm sorry to read about the passing of your DH. Hugs.
Camelot hope today goes well and there's no fireworks.
Take care all, hugs to anyone in need.
nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Hi everyone,
Nanny, that sounds painful, I hope you feel better soon.
You too Gers, we're a household of coughing. spluttering and snotty people as well.
And then there's Steve, his infection markers were even higher yesterday even after abx so they added another one, hopefully today will see an improvement.
I was hoping for a better night's sleep last night but unfortunately not but I have a lot to do today so no nana nap for me. I managed to finish and post the cards last night, I want to finish wrapping the presents today while Esther is at nursery. I also need to visit Steve of course, I got myself a seven day car park pass £25.50, having already paid more than that over the last few days.
I was thinking of making mince pies but I think I'll wait till Wednesday now, the family are going to London to see Bluey, then on Thursday they go up to Glasgow, I hope Steve is home before they go.
Have a good day.

@Nan - ouch!@Snoozer - my fingers are crossed for Steve feeling better. ABs do wonders and then make one feel awful too!Yesterday I mustered enough energy to cook off the YS mince, it's now portioned and in the freezer. I'm now sitting nursing a hot cup of water with honey and tumeric (hate honey) and taken two paracetamol, will remain here until it's time to leave. I doubt that there will be much light today. My niece sent me a video of the ferocious mini-cyclone which hit my nephew / SIL's place in QLD the other day. It was much worse than anything I've experienced here. The next day all was back to sunshine.9

Morning all
Feels quite mild here this morning rain due this evening and tomorrow. I have two coming today and we are off with some friends to see Jungle Book at a local theatre we are all very excited to see it we are going for lunch first before the show so should be a good day 😃
Yesterday I wrapped all the remaining presents but I’m not sure I have enough stocking fillers for my dd so may get a few more this week, I also need to get the bits for the in-laws hamper and wrap those. My new outside lights came so OH put them up so we look nice and festive now.
Dinner tonight will be roast beef and I cooked extra yesterday so it will just need heating through, I need to hoover through this morning and mop the floors, we are not meeting till 11 so a nice gentle start.
Nanny sorry to hear your dad was a pain, sometimes there is no pleasing them !Camelot hope work is ok xx
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Morning everyone
I'm coughing too this morning and my chest feels very uncomfortable - I think I have a chest infection and will need antibiotics. . I was going to do an econsult but the system says I can't until 8am tomorrow so I'll try ringing instead - I'll wait a bit till the Monday morning rush has died down.
I had little one most of the weekend while DD carried on packing - she was no bother as usual and we had a lovely time - lots of Christmas crafting and reading Christmas books. Also lots of loud singing of the Twelve Days of Christmas - she can almost remember all the days now. She's very excited to move house on Wednesday and also to go to the pantomime with school today. She's really just a ball of excitement in general just now which is lovely.
We were inside all weekend as it has been so windy - it's died down a lot today. I am not in work today as I have a two hour appointment at the Citizens Advice this afternoon to go over everything for my Pip appeal. I got a letter last week - my tribunal is on 4th January.
Well I'd better get on and do some cleaning, hope everyone has a good day x
Snoozer I hope Steve has improved today x11 -
Morning all.
A late start for me as I slept in until 9.15am. I remember reading in bed and then putting the light out at midnight; sleeping in the spare room obviously brings a change in habits.
I went out for a while yesterday but then had to do all the weekend household bits, that are normally shared with DH. We had grilled lamb steaks and veg for a late lunch; he is so much better then me at cooking a roast so didn't attempt that. Must be doing something right though as the scales showed me to be half a kilo less this morning.
We're almost out of bin liners so have added those to my shopping list and will pop out in a while.
Gers; so glad to see the road now open for you but saw the swathe of weather heading your way and shuddered.
Snoozer: hope Steve recovers soon with the extra antibiotics.
Keep well everyone. Lots of nasty stuff about.10
