I'm desperate to get out into the garden and today it's sunny for the first time in weeks - which would be great, but the ground is waterlogged so I still can't do anything. At least not being able to garden will force me to finish off some jobs in the house, and I'll also be able to have a dry walk for a change instead of having to wear waterproofs.GC Feb 25 - £225.54/£250 Mar £218.63/£2408

It's still raining here, although we had a few dry hours in the morning.i had cut some hazel and elder so pushed them into the ground. He edible hedging is beginning to take shape and we should eventually have sloes, hazelnuts, crab apples, blackcurrants, elderberries, raspberries and gooseberries. I had popped some courgette seeds into pots to get them started and the hardy kiwi is, once again, bursting into life. It's still in its original pot so I must try to work out where it can go permanently.
It's never borne fruit but did get a couple of flowers last year.
Hope everyone is doing ok.

Frugal living challenge - living on little in 2025 while frugalling towards retirement.14 -
I think we've all jinxed the weather! I planted a load of vegetables this weekend and put in some lettuce and tomatoes in the greenhouse since it felt like it was warmer. Now freezing again and horrible weather today. I have wrapped up the plants so hopefully they will survive and no hope of seeds germinating when it's so cold. Summer salad weather seems a long way off. Hope everyone is safe and keeping toasty.8

Morning all
I've been MIA but so busy. Whoever said you're really busy when you retire wasn't wrong. I have finally managed to get out of my energy deal and have changed to a different company who don't charge me to switch. DP had his PIP interview next week so we're waiting on that. Because he gets income based ESA at the moment we can apply for a social rate with our water and I'm exploring if we can get a reduction with our council tax.
Life is bobbing along and I'm settling into some sort of routine. I joined a cheap gym as I'm concerned my mobility has really decreased since I left my last one in January. We don't have too much success with Olio and TGTG here. It's mainly bread. I'm better off going to half price community shops.
Have a fabulous day all11 -
Morning chums well forecast today in Kent seems its the only day without rain so last night I did a wash load and its on the line at the moment fingers crossed there's a gentle breeze blowing so hopefully it will be dry by mid afternoon.
One cupboard in the kitchen completely empty now and food stock minimised as much as I can I'm hoping to move at the end of next month so eating from the cupboards and donating stuff to the food bank that I know I won't have time to eatdon't really need to be packing tins of stuff as well as everything else. Feeling 100% better this morning so may have some porridge for breakfast

@London_1 glad you are feeling better. Well done on reducing your cupboards so much, especially as you have lived there a long time.
I am having a slow day today as I am wiped as my fibromyalgia has flared. I was away last week on a care visit to my daughter. The best deal I can get for accommodation is a caravan 15 miles away. It takes two buses and a four hour return journey (with walks to the bus stops and waiting times) to see her. I can only see her for about twenty minutes at a time as that is all she can sustain due to autism. This time she did manage two consecutive days. In future this potentially means I could get a budget hotel closer and just do an overnight stay rather than a Monday to Friday stay. I do have a caravan booked for three weeks time again to see her on her birthday and then I will re-think my plan. This visit was lovely too as a group of my friends came and also booked caravans. One day was my birthday and they were so kind with lots of lovely things planned for me. They are all frugal so we also enjoyed charity shop potters together and found some good food deals including managing a three course meal for £7.25 one night.
Since being back I have been catching up (slowly and gently) at the allotment. Mainly potting on and planting seeds. OH loves the allotment but is a complete beginner. He is happy to do the heavier tasks and for me to do all the planning.
I am hoping for a quiet week. I need to do a food shop today and a bit of cooking. The garden needs a tidy up too and OH will help with that. We are going out for afternoon tea at a posh local hotel on Friday using a voucher I won in a raffle at Christmas. I have been invited to an afternoon tea at the same hotel next Tuesday too. I will need to get my energy back to wear off all those extra calories!8
