Re sofas, we bought a nice looking, soft fabric one from a well known sofa store and its been a real disappointment. The cushions have just not stayed in shape. I should complain but we've had it 18 months ish.
I am pleased to say that I haven't spent anything this year yet. I will need fuel tomorrow and a top up food shop Saturday, will make a list and stick to it though.Mum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.

First spend today of £49.53 on Amazon subscribe & save for store cupboard and cleaning essentials. £21.42 of that was for oat milk. I also needed some g/f stuff for the boy. This morning, I made up some porridge and added seeds and frozen mixed berries (which had been languishing in the freezer under the stairs). It turned the porridge pink, but there were no complaints. Lunchtime, we will eat the rest of the butter bean and chickpea patties, then this evening we are having rajma masala, all made from stock already in. Another trip to the park is on the cards for this afternoon, to let off some steam. I’m also planning on decluttering another cupboard, as it feels good to let go of some things.15

Disaster! My kindle has broken. It's about 15 years old and I'm really shocked at the current price to replace it. I still have my birthday money from August so that will help. Going to look through my survey sites to see if I have enough points to cash in. Also going to check cash back sites for offers.
I have a couple of paperbacks from the charity shop to keep me going. I was half way through a book and was really enjoying it. Now I'll have to wait to find out if my favourite characters solve the mystery.
I did manage to get a huge YS gammon yesterday. Less than half price. I've cut it up into more manageable pieces and put it in the freezer. Wasn't tempted by reduced Xmas sweets or cakes though.12 -
Following this thread with interest.
From January, I have reduced to a 3 day week so only on 60% salary and will need to think a little more before spending.
Definitely hoping for a better work life balance as my MH was not too good last year - I’m a teacher and the daily abuse from a small percentage of students was taking its toll!
So looking forward to 4 day weekends and cooking from scratch a lot more and probably drinking less!
Am not setting a budget as yet but have started to play with figures - need to see how much my petrol reduces with 120 less miles a week…GC 2024 £1445.91/£3000

Do you have a a smart phone @mandy47? I stopped buying Kindles when I realised I could download the app on my phone and read them there. If nothing else it will tide you through until you can buy a new one, and get you to the end of the mystery!Live the good life where you have been planted.

I was going to suggest downloading the app onto phone or a tablet or laptop if they have one - I prefer the larger screen. My Kindle packed up about a year ago and I tend to use my laptop or tablet as find the phone too small.14

Morning fellow fugalers, I am taking a break from tidying up and cleaning so have caught up with the thread. It's lovely to see it so busy.
So far this morning:
DH has sorted out his car insurance, wth £80 off the orginal quote
DH has booked his car in for it's service and MOT
Item sold on ebay and money now in our account £54
I am tackling an ironing mountain, made good headway but still alot to do
I am resurecting an old laundry basket, the fabric bit is in the wash just now, wood been cleaned down and a spit in the wood 'expertly' sellotaped. It should last us another few years withour haivng to buy a new one.
I have a chum popping round about midday for a catch up. I haven't seen her for a while so I'm looking forward to it.
I hope everyone has a good day xx
