HMRC Tax Refund Delay

I received my P800 dated 1/10/23 and subsequently claimed my calculated tax refund of £2702.06 via the online portal (to be paid direct to my personal bank account) on 12/10/23. To date (15/12/23) no refund has been received. Have phoned direct 08/11 and waited 45min to talk to an individual who actually said that since it was showing as pending it would do more harm than good to interfere. Had an online chat 13/11 which talked about extra security checks??? Currently shows HMRC is PROCESSING your refund. Unable to email HMRC and no idea what is going on. Is anyone else experiencing this delay? it is a lot of money to be overcharged!

Yes the calculation is correct. Frustrating thing is no way of communicating with them by email.

Until Wednesday 31 January 2024, the Self Assessment helpline can only discuss questions about:

• paying your Self Assessment tax bill
• getting a refund from your Self Assessment account
• completing your Self Assessment tax return

The helpline will be able to deal with other Self Assessment queries from Thursday 1 February 2024.

I submitted my self assessment tax return on 2nd December & had a message on 9th December that a £2,000 refund had been made to my bank account. The money didn't actually arrive in my bank account until today 23rd December so a fortnight delay.
