Creditor Letters Worry/ Query

Options
Hi all

Can I say this forum has been hugely helpful in me learning how to manage my unmanageable debt. The advice is invaluable, has helped calm my anxiety; and given me a wealth of actions to take & courage.

Context:
I'm about to move house and my plan is to stop paying my cc/ loan payments and wait for them to default before progressing onto a self managed DMP.

I'm worried about the volume of creditor letters I might receive at my new address. I don't have a letterbox on the door - instead, there is a mailbox on a wall next to the owners mailbox (I'm renting one of their properties so we're effectively neighbours).

I'm worried about drawing unwanted attention to my financial situation. I'm very private and really don't want this on my landlords radar.

My questions:
Is it possible for me to request all credit correspondence comes via email not mail?

Am I overthinking this and the expected volume? I really don't know what to expect.

I was also considering paying for a virtual mailbox/ address to manage my post for a year until it settles down.  Has anyone else used such a service?

As a side question - how do I search a Board on the forum. The search bar gives me threads from all boards and I just want to search in debt-free wannabe?

Thanks

  • You  are overthinking, everyone has a different volume of mail, your landlord isn't going to be the slightestly interested in the amount of mail you receive.
I hope you are doing a change of address with Royal Mail so you do get the mail, mind you 99% of it should go straight into the bin.

What ever you do don't phone any of your creditors that just encourages them.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.
  • I had a similar worry. One of my creditors has only sent snail mail twice in six months. The other one writes once a week . There's nothing to worry about , honestly.

Thanks, I'm definitely guilty of overthinking. It's a curse and sometimes a blessing.

Yep, mail will be redirected. And thanks, I've noted the complete silence when it comes to creditors to get to the stage of a default. Thanks again

Thank you - glad I wasn't alone in that worry... overthinking or not.
