Options
Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of soil sampling, either the job itself or role, as advertised by FRS Recruitment?

The original advert has been taken down but see https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...iX7AE9I8r2WkYi_hEpLgXZz3shg5i6FR2yH1toPI&_rdr

Would appreciate any replies.

    Well, the ad says Requirements:
Level 5 of higher qualification in agriculture or a related field.
Familiar with farming & land use in Ireland
Comfortable with fieldwork all year round.

So if you can answer yes to these I would imagine you would know what was involved, and if you haven't, and don't know what the job is about, there would be no point applying.

You have knowledge of Irish farming?

Its a mid level physical job out in all weathers and probably operating alone for much of it

I'm aware of what the job entails but it'd be good to hear from anyone who's done the job or know someone who has.

not sure if this helps. my first job years ago was construction materials tester. I tested sands, aggregate, fillers, concrete, tarmac, sub layers, mortars,  via taking core samples.
it involved going to building sites and taking samples. then back to lab and breaking it down to its constituents via sieves, chemicals, solvents and shakers, vibration.to British standards.
it was basically an over qualified labouring job that involved mild physical labour in all weathers and using your brain back at the laboratory to do calculations and be very  precise in measuring and weighing via fine electronic scales and breakers and calculating %s to see if they fit into the British standards of each type of material and subsections of those materials.
Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

My dad worked for a farm management company that did this, and due to the crazy nature of the farming world and busy summer, I'd often go with him to work at weekends and help with soil sampling. It was just testing the soil for different nutrients to help with crop rotation so they got the maximum yield from crops each year, and working out which fertilizers would best benefit the crops. I found it quite interesting as a teenager. It was partly field based (collecting samples) and then partly lab based doing the analysis.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
