I own my own home and 4 rental properties
I plan to buy a new home/ my main residence, then sell my existing home once I have moved into the new place.
I understand that I will have to pay the additional 'second home' stamp duty, but can I claim it back when my main residence has been sold?

Yes. But you have to sell your current main residence within three years of buying the new one to be able to reclaim the second home additional SDLT.0
