We are looking to upgrade house as purs is too small,
We currebtly owe aroubd 180,000 on mortgage and property is worth 350,000
We are looking at houses around 475000 mark
Husband earns around 90,000 a year i earn 13,000
I curently have a credit card that has 2900 on it, last month i went over by 24 pounds but paid it off straight away and then did the minimum payment. I have been doing the minimum payment for some time which isnt ideal however this month i will be paying approx 2500 of it off
Have i ruined our chances of getting a bigger mortgage?
We have already remortgaged once last year and i did have a bit of debt then as well but that was just because our fized rate hd finished

£2,900 credit card debt on £103k income isnt a problem.
The late payment could be, you should get a copy of your credit report. It might not be a deal breaker but it could be a problem. Sometimes if you bring it back in line quickly enough it wont get picked up... Id the CC witht he same company as your mortgage?

Just to clarify, was it that you went over the credit limit rather than it being a late payment?
I know you haven't asked for this advice, but I'd suggest that you could (together) have a look at how you manage your joint finances, to avoid any potential problems with remortaging in the future.0 -
Their mortgage is less than 2x income and they have £3k on a credit card.Bluebell1000 said:Just to clarify, was it that you went over the credit limit rather than it being a late payment?

My money is more on this being an oversight than a problem. The minimum payment DD is in place now.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I think you will be fine. But it might not be a bad idea to get a broker. There are a couple of lenders I would avoid.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Our of curiosity who would you be avoiding?0

Nationwide really dont like people who are using a large percentage of their available credit... I feel like they would prefer to see someone using £500 of a £1,000 limit than £450 of a £500 limit.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
