Good morning, it's an early start after a bad night for me, I'll be drooping later.
Seems to be ok outside as far as I can tell. Yesterday turned into a horrible day, incessant rain.
Well , the packing is done, I'm pleased about that. The cases aren't closed though, that'll be done next Thursday morning.
We weren't out at all yesterday, but I'll go to the shops here this morning, when I remember what I want.
Thanks for the carols Taff.
Ruby, enjoy Venice, I would love to go there.
Hope everyone is ok, take care folks.

Morning All
Thanks for the start scarlet, glad you have your packing done.
Not as cold this morning and not raining at the moment - yesterday was awful, non-stop rain all day.
I went to visit a friend in hospital who has had a knee replacement, she's surprisingly chirpy and should be going home today so I'll see about visiting her at home over the weekend and see if she wants anything. What a lovely hospital - like a hotel!
I have the optician after work so will need to rush home to leave the car as they like to put drops in so I'll need to walk down and feel my way home!
Glad your painting is finished Gers.
Your smart meter seems doomed dp1!
Your dinner for your DGDs sounds lovely TA.
Good haul at the larder WL.
Hope your celebration went well Nanny, Happy Birthday to your DD.
Hope you're feeling better Rosy.
Friday at last, it's the school fair this afternoon - shame I have the optician!
Take care. XX6 -
Morning folks and thanks Scarlet. I wonder how many times your clothes will be in and out before next Thursday! A calm start here too, a blessing after yesterday's offering of heavy rain and wind. Before I start, apologies if my paragraphs disappear again and all my ramblings merge.
I met my DF as planned and once again we got the table by the fire! We had a good natter as usual. We are going to the carvery next week for a change and perhaps splash out on the Christmas menu!
I have an Iceland delivery due shortly. It's just a stock up of store cupboard and freezer staples to top up my winter supplies. A text tells me all is P & C.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. Take care all and be safe xx

Unsettled weather here. After the very high winds yesterday we had rain, not heavy but persistent. Do I prefer dry freezing days or milder wet ones. I can't make up my mind though leaning towards dry days. The pool session was very good yesterday. The new leader of it was excellent and we all worked hard. The exercises were so different and were targeted more. The whole group were really happy.Afterwards I took a little tub of the Parmesan shortbread round to my friend. They were in a right guddle as the husband was installing a new shower room downstairs. I cut the shortbread rounds too thick so will do better next time, however they were delicious. Now I've found a different recipe which doesn't use egg yolks so I'll try that next time.Today my beloved niece flies home to Melbourne for Christmas. She's been in London on the two year working visa and been having a glorious time with lots of short breaks in many European places. She'll be having a few days up in QLD with her half brother and his four children and my SIL.I have no plans for today, I'll wait for inspiration or need hits me.Taff - thanks for the Christmas tunes.TA - my paragraphs are always wonky when I post using my iPad.There was an article in the paper yesterday about a group of tourists in Venice ending up in the canal after not sitting down in their gondola - I really hope that Ruby and her DH are not amongst them.7

Morning everyone you can’t see a hand in front of you this morning but it is slightly milder I’m off to do my volunteering at the food waste it’s only a hour but I enjoy it our friend is calling in today he’s a retired plumber and heating engineer we have been baffled at why when we put the heating on for an hour or so on a night it knocks itself off but it’s because the living room is warm still where the thermostat is so he’s going to move it into the kitchen what a plonker I am . Not much else happening here last day of the week at work I will pop to the library to change my books when I finish Camelot when my hubby had his new knee he was home the next day he says the first week is the worst it was for me I nearly wore the stair carpet out running up and down them after him . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing5

Hello all, we had a biblical amount of rain yesterday, I nearly had to re-order the Ark ! Mr Fix It collected the DGC from school but they were drowned by the time they got to the car so their coats and trousers bedecked my radiators, good job they both had their PE kits in their bag and were able to sit in their shorts. The party was great, nearly all the food was eaten, both Dad and DD took a few leftovers home and now we have a few bits left for today, enough for a snack anyway.
This morning I have a bloods and BP check appointment and then we'll call into DD's to deliver a parcel. We were taking her out to lunch today but she's gone down with a cold so we'll see how she is and maybe order a takeaway for all of us instead.
Scarlet enjoy your hol down under, I know it's not yet but I might forget to wish you Bon Voyage.
taff thank you for taking the time to do the all the xmas songs.
Hope everyone has a drier day today. Take care all, keep safe and well
nan xx

Morning all. I'm late today as didn't wake up until 8.45am
I had a good lunch and catch up with a couple of girl friends yesterday. We went to a newish Italian restaurant, which is by the side of a lake. I think there were some work lunch parties in as it did get busy. Afterwards I came home via some shopping at Sainsbury's but discovered I still had the security tag on a bottle of coffee liqueur when I got home. Means I'll have to go back there today with the receipt to get it removed. Not sure how that happened, as it didn't sound any alarms when I left the store. The plan is to make an expresso martini cheesecake for an event on Wednesday and, if it goes well, I'll make it again for pudding on Christmas Day.
Luckily the sun is shining here so I'll head off with the liqueur in a while. Think we'll have fish and chips tonight and I must pay my car tax whilst I'm online today, else that gets put down and forgotten.
Fun Friday everyone!5 -

Rockin' around the Christmas tree
At the Christmas party hop
Mistletoe hung where you can see
Every couple tries to stop
Rockin' around the Christmas tree
Let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we'll have some pumpkin pie
And we'll do some caroling

Morning! Todays the day of the big cook out. I have bbq pork stew to make [ made up recipe], lots of creamy mash and some trifle, before half five when we're out for our birthdays meal with family at a churrascaria, so meat sweats a plenty tonight. I'm not driving because I love caipirinhas and I'll be hopefuly imbibing a few o them I also have to find a fire pit, and move some stuff out the back when OH gets home ready for tomorrow. I decorated the fire yesterday so it looks a bit more festive, I have a feeling I'll be tiling the chimney breast next year.
Nanny, happy birthday to your dd, sounds like it all went swimmingly [not literally, although...]...Gers, your adult panto also sounds like fun...glad your class is good too. I prefer cold to wet, as long as there's a fire and I'm warm, I'm ok with thatI read that too
WL, don't forget your receipt! Scarlet, did you do a tick box of what you've put in and out so far?
Izzy, I've done the same, our system is really anitquated and the batteries either fail or move around in the wifi temp thing and then over the summer I forget where I've put it so a mad hunt is on the cards every autumn. cmelot, good luck at the opticians. Coxy, hope the procedure was interesting. Take care all, it's brr but fine today so no wellies required, just wrap up instead!
