Halifax removed a hard search from credit file

I've applied for mortgage 9 days ago. My clearscore showed in upcoming changes 'hard search' by Halifax, then yesterday my credit report was updated and it latest changed it shows 'hard search removed' by Halifax. We were expecting to hear from them in a couple of days whether the mortgage is approved, but this doesn't sound optimistic. What do you think?
I don't have any accounts or products with Halifax so it's not an old search that was removed. Also, my husbands hard search wasn't removed yet.
Any ideas.

If they were declining your application they wouldnt remove it for that reason, so I think you are reading far too much into it.0
