Home & Freezer Digest Christmas Cake Recipe

Hi all, I am in desperate need of a Mary Berry Christmas cake recipe from the Home & Freezer Digest in the late 1970s. It included a can of pineapple rings. I have made this cake every year since published & now I cannot find it. I know it's late in the year but if anyone has the recipe & could share it, I would be so grateful (as would OH - the cake eater). Thank you

Many thanks BJV & Pollie. I had checked both & unfortunately they are not the exact recipe I'm after. I think I may have to go with one of them adjusting the fruit to add in pineapple & black treacle. I live in hope that I've put it somewhere safe. Thank you again.

I started to get rid of my Home Freezer Digest collection- I only had about 3 years worth.......then I began looking through them. Most went back on the shelf & they are still there!
I particularly used the autumn ones that had readers apple recipes, some recipes became favourites like the apple & marzipan flan!

I loved Home and Freezer Digest.  i remember following Mary Berry's instructions for making several traybakes for school packed lunches, all timed so it could be done in a morning.

This is not Mary Berry but it is H&FD Oct 78
1 x 9" tin/ 23cm diam round cake tin

1 lb/ 450 g mixed dried fruit
2 oz/50 g glace cherries
8 oz/ 225 g stoned raisins
1 x 12 oz /350 g can pineapple tidbits
3 T brandy
8 oz/ 225 g softened butter
8 oz/ 225 g soft dark brown sugar
4 eggs
1 level T black treacle
8 oz/225 g plain flour
1/4 level t salt
1/2 level t mixed spice
1/4 level t ground nutmeg
1 lemon- grated rind only
2 oz / 50 g almonds , blanched & chopped.
