Hello fellow MSE’s - does anyone have any knowledge of how the £1,925 school teacher back pay works? My partner checked her pay this morning and out of the £1,925 nearly 70% has been deducted which seems ludicrous. (Pending payslip).

You probably need to wait for the payslip first. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Is this a lump sum payment? It will be subject to Tax and NI and possible student loan deduction if she pays that"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

Yup it will all be taxed at 20%+, NI at the usual rates, Pension at the usual rates etc etc.
Nothing unusual.
Also remember she wont have got all the £1925 today, she will have got 2/3rd of it (April through November is 8 months, two thirds of the year, so two thirds of the extra amount). The rest will come between December and March, at 1/12th of the extra amount per month.
I have come out with £690 (approx.) extra out of the extra £1283 I got today, after tax, NI, pension and SLC deductions.
I suspect she thinks she is getting ALL of the £1925 today. She isnt. She is getting two thirds of it.1 -
I came out with about £700 extra this month after tax, pension & student loan.MFW 2021 #76 £5,145
