Radio comps (not on air)

Just out of interest, if I won one of the radio comps which wasn’t an on air one, if they rang me and I didn’t answer would they leave a message?

Are you meaning something like the daily cash prize on Greatest Hits Radio? Although it’s an ‘off-air’ competition (you simply register your mobile number for £2) the actual winning call is made live and if you don’t pick up you’ve lost out. There’s no message left - wouldn’t it be good if they simply said “loser” 😂
With GHR you also need to say “make me a winner” before anything else. £125k was up for grabs one day last week and they answered”hello” 😳Oops

Assuming you mean an entirely off air radio contest there is no single answer - Many many many local radio stations were consumed and homogenised by the Bauer group to go with the number of large stations they have, Global has some mainly big ones, Wireless group has a few and there  may still be some real independents about - the T&Cs for the individual competition should say but leaving answer machine messages appears not to be common - some will call and/or e-mail and move on if you do not respond within 28 days, if the prize is time sensitive they may well move on sooner - from previous posts on MSE some calls come from a not withheld number but calling back goes to a switchboard who will probably not know who called you. Basically answer the phone and or check your e-mail if you gave one as part of the entry process.

When I won a radio competition that wasn't on air they emailed me

I won with Smooth Radio recently (not sure whether they are part of Baeur Media), they phoned me on my mobile, also sent an email.

They are part of Global

4.3.2      we will only be able to send prize fulfilment information and/or prize details to the email address you used to enter the Promotion or, in relation to an on-air or social media platform Promotion, the email address you registered with us after being notified as a winner.
