Do banks pass your contact info to DCA?

Hi all...
I recently received an email from a debt collection agency regarding a long ago debt for a small amount... This debt has gone statue barred many years ago and is of no concern to me. I do feel they are "chancing their arm".
The DCA contacted me on a relatively new obscure email address, although it is the email address I use for banking.
I've never spoken with this DCA, so it got me wondering how they obtained my email address. Would a bank pass this information on to these cowboys?
Thanks for reading...

Yes if the debt they are chasing relates to that bank.
If it doesn't then that's a bit more mysterious1 -
I'd reply and say that you need them to delete your email address as you have no relationship with them. Don't admit anything about the debt - just that they should NOT have your email address.
Chances are they have googled it from somewhere or sent multiple queries to MrTitan@hotmail.com, MrTitan@hotmail.co.uk, MrTitan@gmail.com etc.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
