Government paid notice period

So the company I worked for 10 years went into liquidation at the end of October.
Both our redundancy and our notice period will be paid by the government.
We have been told by the liquidator that if we start a job juring this period we will lose the remainder of the notice period payment .
However what he can not answer is if i take on a temp job during this time , for example 2 days a week will i lose all of this payment or will my earnings just be deducted from the total ?.

However, as I understand it, you will be expected to make every effort to find paid work. You cannot just take the redundancy period the government is covering as a sort of paid holiday.0 -
Thanks ,Yes i have just been to a JSA Interview to sign on as i believe the notice pay automatically comes in less any benefits you are entitled to.The Job centre was also pretty unhelpfull, they just said they had no idea about notice period payment, but that i would lose the JSA payment if i worked over 16 hrs.Im not trying to cheat the system or anything, just trying not to screw myself

If you don't get a satisfactory (and prompt) answer, I'd raise it with your MP. That might get a bit of action.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0
