Offset mortgage or overpay?

  • Bear in mind with Offset mortgages, you tend to me on a slightly higher rate. I'd recommend overpayments in this circumstance, of course if you dont need to access the funds quickly.

I Love Offset  mortgages having had 3 over the last 20+ years.
Now YBS have Offset mortgage with No Fee and free valuation.
Yes the rates are a little more than a normal mortgage  but if you can Save into an offset account you can pay more of the capital off each month and less Interest.
Great feeling to have a nice nest egg to dip into when you need

    Hi

Just came across this thread, I’m currently in a fixed deal that finishes in Aug 2025 but I’ve been looking into offset mortgages as my next move when my fix finishes.

I’ve seen that a few of you have posted one of the advantages of an offset mortgage is that it allows you in dip back into it if we need to. Is this dipping into the savings or the actual overpayments made to the offset mortgage?

If it’s the latter, does anyone know if YBS offset allows this as that’s who we plan to move to should we go with an offset

E.g if I have 100k left on my mortgage and a saving of 70k, and I make a overpayment of 20k from my saving, will I be able to dip back into my 20k that I overpaid?

    thanks
