grateful they have a job, that made me laugh,do they think it's 1983 with gis a job yosser Hughes .

ok I admit there are few vacancies for the role of governor of the bank of England. but plenty of jobs in retail, care industry, cleaning, hospitality, pubs, restaurants, bus driving warehouse  work, lorry driving etc.
I've applied for 5 jobs in last few weeks.im getting job vacancies popping up every few mins on indeed website.
it's a job seekers market at mo, not the other way round. pick and choose what you fancy.

I wonder how many jobs in those sectors you quote are full time, non zero contract and pay above minimum wage?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

There's more to life than money.

yes,as an ex bus driver, which is highly stressful and an unhealthy job, poor breaks, bad shifts, lack of exercise.
obesity is common but not smoking as you cant during driving, only  break.
stress is hard and many drivers drink on days off, even between shifts and lack of sleep is a problem or varied shifts where you get no regular sleep pattern.
but you ask does being skint cos more stress than having a stressful unhealthy job

we still have both an hgv and pcv driver shortage in the UK and in the usa.
incentives like welcome bonuses are common now to attract new drivers and younger drivers, cos the older ones are retiring and nobody is replacing them

younger folk don't want to work the bad shifts etc even if the  wages are good

never seen  any bus company offering good money , that;s the problem especially compared to  warehouse work or what  the LGV operators are offering

where I live it's over £15 an hour bus driving and I'm in a poor area of UK.its £20 hour London with £24 on rest day working.
not sure class 2 lgv wage  is ,but class 1 is the big money. but you can't get a class 1 until you pass your class 2.
I would prefer working for the railways as the pay is better and hours shorter than the  pcv industry , don't know why. that is

currently at the final stages for job candidate for both pcv driver( which I may go back into only if shifts are ok) but also at final stage for a railway position ( non driver role).
    choices choices.

haven't done Nightshift warehouse work in 30 years.think I would fall asleep.

It depends on what someone calls "good money".

But agreed. When I see on the back of a bus around here "you could earn £xx,xxx a year to drive this bus", I think no thanks pal as much as I'd like to move on from where I'm at, I'll pass. A year or so ago I'm sure they were advertising something like 22k-24k.

That seems to be around what they are advertising for new drivers.
