Discount for leaving a basket

I noticed Martin asked a few days ago about leaving a basket and getting a discount code. Has anyone noticed the opposite? Two days ago on Debenhams web site I put a jacket (@ £41 ish) in my basket, originally £99.99, and then genuinely forgot I had done it, then the next morning I noticed I had received an email offering it at £38.03 during the night, so I went to order it and it showed in the basket @ £48, so I just thought I had missed the offer, then yesterday I got another email offering @ £38.03 again, so this time I went to the order page within 2 hours of the email arriving, again it was £48 ish.
Am I the only person who gets offers that are higher than the original sale price? ☹️

That said and to answer original post if the items are already on sale I wouldn't expect to receive a further reduction email anyway. In your case OP if the price is good I would have purchased the item.1

And to add insult to injury this morning I received an email asking for a screen shot of the offer they made and the link it takes me to, and surprise surprise… it is now out of stock.0
