Discount for leaving a basket

I noticed Martin asked a few days ago about leaving a basket and getting a discount code. Has anyone noticed the opposite? Two days ago on Debenhams web site I put a jacket (@ £41 ish) in my basket, originally £99.99, and then genuinely forgot I had done it, then the next morning I noticed I had received an email offering it at £38.03 during the night, so I went to order it and it showed in the basket @ £48, so I just thought I had missed the offer, then yesterday I got another email offering @ £38.03 again, so this time I went to the order page within 2 hours of the email arriving, again it was £48 ish.
Am I the only person who gets offers that are higher than the original sale price? ☹️

That said and to answer original post if the items are already on sale I wouldn't expect to receive a further reduction email anyway. In your case OP if the price is good I would have purchased the item.

Ok I get what you mean, but if they send an email giving even more discount shouldn’t they stand by it, it’s not my fault they wanted to knock more money off it.

And to add insult to injury this morning I received an email asking for a screen shot of the offer they made and the link it takes me to, and surprise surprise… it is now out of stock.
