Trip.com Railcard sale - do all tickets have to be booked via the app?

The T&C's for this offer say that "to active the railcards, you need to book a train ticket on Trip.com under the same account". Does anyone know whether this is a one-off and you can use the Railcard normally (without using the app to buy tickets) thereafter?
I've already bought advance tickets with the intention of renewing my Railcard on time - while I can easily activate the card on this offer by buying a different ticket via the app, I don't want to get it and then find it doesn't cover the tickets I bought outside the app.

Once the railcard is active, it doesn't matter where you buy tickets - including at a ticket office or ticket machine.

Yes the railcard stays on the app you bought it but can be used with any train operator, but it can be tricky to find on the app in a hurry at ticket gates! Ive printed mine out to make it easier!0
