Been keeping an eye on this item on Amazon. Until today this item was £139.99 on Amazon. Today one day before Black Friday commences it has gone up to £159.99. I wonder if it will be on offer as a Black Friday deal tomorrow?  (As i can't post links) It is a AMAZON FIRE TABLET 10 INCH 32GB HD

Amazon own brand items will be in the black friday sale as they can discount them but still make money.

Price on Black Friday £84.99 which is a good deal but why bother putting the price up the day before Black Friday as even at £139 down to £85 it is still a good deal.

a 50% discount sounds a lot better than a 39% discount to many and allows it to be included in high traction areas like "half price or less"


Small differences in messaging makes a massive difference in sales even if the price paid doesn't change. We used to say "10% online discount" but for technical reasons had to change it to "up to 10% online discount". The actual discount hadn't changed at all but despite that there was still a notable drop in online sales (with no uplift in offline)

TBH, I find the whole Black Friday thing all a bit weird.  It doesn't make much sense in the UK (unlike USA when it follows the Thanksgiving Holiday so the equivalent of Boxing Day sales) and this year, even the date seems to be confused.  I have received e-mails with offers last week as "Black Friday Deals" and Amazon are offering "Black Friday Week" which seems to start today.  I think actual "Black Friday" might be a whole week away yet.
