Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.
It's a damp start as usual, I'm sure we'll see rain later.
Nanny, it's great to see you back, like others I was wondering what was happening with you. Sorry to read that things haven't been too good for you.
TA, hope your Dd can get some help/pain relief soon, it sounds awful.
Bella, difficult isn't it about looking after grandchildren on a regular basis. You want to help, but it's more tiring when you're older yourself, but you don't want to upset anyone.
Nothing startling happening here today, just plodding along as usual. We're going away tomorrow, so I've got a few jobs to do.
Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of Coxy's dad, TA's daughter in pain with her arm, and anyone else who is not well.
Take care folks.

Morning folks. All is calm outside, for now! Yesterday's rain and wind has moved on but no doubt it will soon return!
Well my bragging yesterday about managing to see a bit of daylight at last in my freezers didn't last long!! I was putting my Ocado delivery away when DD rang to see if I wanted a run to the Company Shop as we haven't been for ages, Of course I said yes, on the proviso I didn't buy anything for the freezer! Famous last words! I came out with numerous packs of chicken fillets, pizzas and packs of compressed fat free beef steak mince. Like you GERS I have never used it before but thanks to your post I am now forewarned!
Thanks for the good wishes for DD. She is soldiering on as best she can, taking all the painkillers she has been prescribed but they don't seem to be doing much to help. She says they take the edge off the pain but it's always there. I'll be glad when she has had the MRI and we know what she is up against. (SNOOZER your post about Laura gives me hope there is light at the end of the tunnel)
Well I suppose a spot of cleaning wouldn't go amiss today, unless a better offer comes along! Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. Take care all and be safe xx

Light is slowly creeping into the sky, it's much slower than sunset which seems to happen so fast.Yesterday was rather peaceful. I decided to not make the Mexican lasagna as it has so much cheese in it so I make a potful of a sort of bolognaise ragu. It's packed with lentils and veggies then has some with the cauliflower rice. There's plenty in the fridge for the next few days. This morning I'm off to the pool for the exercise class, I'm hoping to hear about a replacement for the teacher who leaves tomorrow.Scarlet - enjoy your days away visiting relatives.TA - I hope that your DD can get an early appointment, perhaps a cancellation could come through.10

Morning all and thanks for the start @nmlc x
WFH today and I have no meetings so just trying to get handover notes done (not that anyone is taking on my role). We have a SW chicken curry to put together later.
All internet present purchases are now here, so I need to take stock and figure out what else I need to get. Would love to have the bulk done before I start the new job if possible. Have saved quite a bit this year by using vouchers earned or loyalty points. It all helps.
DDad’s chemo and radiotherapy is going to be Mon-Fri for 4 weeks, starting 27 Nov I believe. He is stoic and I’ve told him that a positive mental attitude will be needed (he’s been quite moany recently, understandable I know).
Safe travels @snoozer x
Hope all the poorlies are doing okay, particularly @TravellingAbuela’s DD and @nannywindow x
Have a good day all

Morning all; bit darker here this morning.
Busy day yesterday driving DD and baby around, as she was without a car for the day. Collected DGS from school and then did a bit of babysitting whilst they got some things done. All that meant we didn't get round to a proper meal so just had some scrambled eggs before going out in the evening.
Today I hope to make some biscuits and then definitely start writing the Christmas cards! DH has done the ones for Canada and Australia so he can go up to the Post Office with them.
I've worked out that, so far this month, I've spent just under £10 per day on food for the two of us, which is more than I thought. We have eaten some things from the garage freezer and a couple of portions have been added back in. Actually, I've just realised that money includes a gammon for Christmas and some household bits so maybe it's not as bad as I thought.
Hope everyone's day goes well.11 -
Morning everyone
It's a bit brighter morning here and the wind has dropped.
Yesterday I had a nice wander round town but didn't actually buy much. But I have a big parcel coming from Amazon tomorrow! Including a keyboard for little ones birthday that I know she'll love.
I have a couple of vouchers still to buy for a couple of local cafes for my niece and nephew - I prefer giving vouchers rather than money. I need to remember to check if I've got cards and paper - I usually buy them in January but can't remember if I did this year.
Well I have a few jobs to do before work and nothing much to say so I'll get on.
Eldest DD is at the airport in Lanzarote waiting for her flight home - she'll ring me when she's waiting for a bus at Munich at teatime.
Hope everyone has a good day x10 -
Morning all, thanks nmlc. Just been catching up - didn't get on yesterday, my laptop wasn't connecting to the internet until briefly last night.Did it again this morning, DH had no probs on his so it's not the actual internet connection, that seems fine.I hardly seemed to stop yesterday, big T delivery that needed putting away first thing, but I decided to sort the main food cupboard before I put the tins and packets away. Then more cleaning. After lunch I started making sandwiches etc. to take with us for DGS football tournament which was near the Fylde coast. We set off just before 4.30 after picking him up & meeting at Ds2s for him to get changed.Traffic was heavy at that time and roadworks too but made it in time. Good facilities at the club, and met a family whose lad used to play for the Saturday team so that was nice, and we enjoyed it. DS ended up buying a pizza at the club after and we had a hot choc. The footie coaches were in there too and laughed at DGS hot choc as it had so much cream on it looked like a volcanoI'll probably make a beef stew for later.Nanny good to see you.Coxy hope the treatment for DDad helps.Right more stuff to do, take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all
Pouring with rain here again the flooding on the roads just keep getting topped up we need a break from rain for a few weeks to let everything dry up.
Took mum shopping yesterday so she is well stocked up for a while, I also got some jars for my pickle making and eventually tracked down a cauliflower after three shops ! Who knew it would be so difficult. So today I shall make the piccalilli.
DD has a day off today and is still in bed she works such long shifts that she needs a good rest, we will get the dogs out later at some point hopefully between showers.
I think I will do cheesy bean pie for dinner with some sausages nice and warming in this horrible weather.
Scarlet enjoy your break away xxx
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning all, it's dry at the moment but I don't think it will last. Yesterday I was so tired I went to bed early and slept well but my head is a bit fuzzy this morning.
Today I will be gently pottering about until we pick DGD up from school as she's coming for tea, DD will join us after she's finished teaching too. Chicken, bacon and pasta salad has been requested by DGD so I'll make that to go with her fav pizza and there is a chocolate cake in the freezer ready for pud. I need to start emptying the freezers too as they are choc a bloc, so this will be a start.
Hope everyone has a good day, hugs to the poorlies and poorly relatives.
Take care all, stay safe, dry and warm.
nan xx

Morning! Off to Bath in a bit to meet up with half uncle, I'm driving, i'll be easier than walking to the station and catching a train, I've already looked at parking places and downloaded an app to pay for it so hopefully it'll be plain sailing. Some friends are coming over tonight for coffee and a catch up and just for once, the house is not a tip. The blinds look lovely and I'm very impressed with the shutters in the bedroom, they block loads of light out. Fatty is happy because he can look out of the windows again. I put a different unit in place for the computer and tv yesterday o the slatted bench is up for sale and so are the dividers we were using for privacy, jut the table to clear [and there's actually only me sewing machine and a few bits on it] and then the room will look almost normal, if you discount the glue spotted ceiling and half off wall paper.Gers, we're going on a bus trip to the Netherlands to the Valkenburg caves and Christmas Markets, I've done a couple [Rudesheim] with the same bloke [ an ex=work colleague and friend] who runs a travel company. They're really good value and so easy, no driving, all done for you [plus I can fall asleep on a bus and just spend most of the travelling sleeping] and extra trips to different markets. I prefer going somewhere cold rather than hot and I do love a sparkly light or two [ million or so..
]. Hope you're next teacher is as good as the first! Scarlet, enjoy the start of the travelling adventures! TA, your poor DD. It's so dispiriting being in cnstant pain, it can really get you down. Also fingers crossed for a cancellation. Coxy, hope your dad is prepared for what's to come and you're right, a pma is definitely needed. Wl, at least you have a handle on what you spend. And prices are so stupid. Oh Rosy, beef stew and creamy hot chocolate? I have snack and food envy
dp1, I love that your dd just flits about with no worries about travelling, she seems very confident
Ruby, happy picalili day! Nanny, have fun pottering..time flies when I do that...NRA, yes, start driving again, use it or lose it
Izzy, glad to see you're sticking it to the man
Take care all, hugs n stuff for the unwell, high fives for the not.
