Morning all
Gers glad you are still snug 😃 I must admit it was a struggle to get out of bed this morning it was so cosy and warm I could have stayed there for another couple of hours.
Two people coming today as Rob is still poorly I will see what they fancy doing although the weather is not looking promising we have had rain again most of the night.
Dinner tonight is roast left from Sunday so nice and quick just need to re heat. I have put a wash on this morning but that will have to go on the airer.
I got my pickles finished yesterday so they are in the cupboard while they ‘brew’ I am going to make some piccalilli next which I love and home made is so much better.
Nanny I hope you are ok please let us know as we have not seen you for a while xx
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Just about to ease myself out of snugness! I always wake very early and enjoy being in bed. Now my fingers are very cold so it's time.Yesterday I had a few moments of worry about the broken WM as it had dirty clothes in and I couldn't open the door as the wee access door at the bottom was rusted on. Eventually I took a big kitchen knife to it, got it prised open and retrieved my stuff. 😀
I have no plans for today apart from a meeting this evening, Going out into a dark winter night is one of my least favourite things, but it's for a god cause.10 -
Morning all. Dull but quiet here so far.
DH's visit to the dentist yesterday didn't go well. He was advised he may have to have the tooth extracted and then looking at the Xrays made him feel funny and it seems he almost fainted. They had to lie him down on the dentist couch to recover. He does have form for this over the years and always has any blood taken whilst lying down.
Anyway, he was still a bit wobbly all day and is trying not to eat on that side of his mouth until he sees the dentist again next week to decide on a plan of action.
Meanwhile I got the garage freezer back up and running so popped to Costco for some meat, which is now bagged up and frozen. I need to do another trip before too long but then we'll be well stocked up for quite some time.
Off to make a lemon drizzle traybake now. Have a good day everyone.10 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's a vast improvement on yesterday's torrential rain and wind thank goodness. A bit drab but forecast to brighten up and definitely feels milder.
Came downstairs to a flashing Virgin tivo box. Grr, there's always something. Went online to check if there was an outage hereabouts but no, the problem lies with my box. Of course you have to wade through the usual minefield of useless help before you eventually get to speak to a real person and, at the moment, I just cba so I have the iplayer on my lappie.for now to catch up with the news. Maybe later!!
I am meeting my DF for lunch at our usual hostellerie and hoping we get the snug corner by the fire that we got last week. It's definitely quieter than it used to be but I suppose that's because people are having to tighten their belts a bit. I need to get a few bits in town before I head on to meet her.
I am worrying about my DD who spent 10 hours (!!!!) at A & E at the w/e. It's all a bit complicated but the doctor she saw has referred her for an MRI scan and appointment at the musculoskeletal clinic. She is in agony with pain down her neck and arm down to fingers. They couldn't prescribe any painkillers, so she had to run the gauntlet of trying to speak to a doctor yesterday and request something. By mid afternoon the script had been e sent to our local chemist who didn't have one of the items in stock!!!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. It's an age since we last "saw" NAN. I know she has on occasion been absent for a week or two with health problems but this time it seems a lot longer. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning and thanks for the start Gers, seems quiet here today. You'll prob all cross post while I type this! Gers, sounds slightly dangerous taking a kitchen knife to open the washer door
, that is a good idea being able to add stuff.
I ended up picking loads of branches from the pavement on this mornings dogwalk, the wind was ferocious last night, seems ok now though.Yesterday it blew a lot of leaves straight down the path towards the house. I had to clear them before I could walk down, and next to the garden wall outside. Luckily it's green bin day so that's full up now!I also cleaned the carpet in the living room, and 3 rugs. Guess what ? DH didn't take his work boots off when he came home & walked through the living room, grr. Left it to dry and hope it'll hoover up shortly. Felt tired after that lot, so sat and filled my notebook with to do list and diary dates, then rang my ex SisIL to arrange to meet with her and her DH next week in M/cr hopefully. Another call to our friends, which always takes a while!Left over curry was soon shifted for tea, tonight I have a pork fillet to use. I also did a T order, not had one for a while, loads of stuff outof stock on my favourites list, to be replaced by smaller packs at a dearer price - I was really shocked at the total, might go through it again and take some offHope the poorly people and Bellas DGS feel better soon, take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. It wasn't the actual washer door - the round glass one - it was the wee one down at the bottom of the machine, the one to clean the filter and drain. The manual release for the glass door is in there.I've realised that there's no access to the filter, unless I'm being thick, which is why it's rusted up. I remember getting this one in my second floor flat in Newcastle, it has a concrete block inside and the JL men really earned their tip in getting up the fairly steep stairs in the converted building. It'll be easier to get it out of my house this time.Made it downstairs and now enjoying my first coffee. A neighbour always toots his car horn when he drives past taking the children to school, sometimes he's like Jackie Stewart and other times he's so slow, it all depends on if they are late or not. I send a toot text back!Whilst I was lying in bed I decided to make Mary Berry's Mexican Lasagna again. I haven't made it for a long time so I think it's time to have some so I will go out to buy the mince and tortillas. See, a plan came into mind.10 -
Hello all, sorry to have been MIA for so long but I'm struggling with ongoing health problems and I didn't want to moan in every post. I can't do as much as I used to and the house is in need of attention, Mr Fix It is doing his best but I can see things that need doing and it gets me down.
In the last couple of weeks we have celebrated Dad's 94th birthday, DGD's 12th and our anniversary. The worst time was DNiece's funeral when the crem was full and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. DGS also had an accident during his first time playing rugby which resulted in a trip to A&E. He returned sporting 2 black eyes, a bruised cheekbone, half a front tooth missing and a broken nose 😱 This was the boy who in nursery fell over, scraped his knee and had a meltdown because he thought he'd broken both his legs 😂
Today it's miserable outside with yet more rain but we don't have to go out till 3pm when we pick up DGS. I shall have a look in the freezer for something for tea as DGS is staying too. He's not bothered what he eats as long as there's plenty of it, some things never change 😁
Hope everyone is keeping well, belated good wishes for any birthdays or anniversaries that I have missed and condolences to those who have lost a loved one, a friend or a pet.
Take care all
love nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Hi everyone,
TA, your poor DD. Some years ago Laura had the same thing, it was so bad that she couldn't even stand for more than a few seconds. It turned out that she had two prolapsed discs in her neck and the neurosurgeon she saw wanted to operate. She opted to try other things first and the things she found most helpful were: the NHS physiotherapy (which started with the tiniest of movements) and acupuncture (the reason she decided to train as an acupuncturist). She was also referred to a pain clinic which sorted out medication which worked and found epsom salt baths helped as well. The problem started in May and by late September when she got married you wouldn't have known she had a problem. I hope your DD gets help quickly.
It's calm here today, yesterday was a bit wild but we didn't have it as bad as some other areas. I did my jaunt to MK and managed to get some presents but I gave up before I got to TK Maxx and John Lewis, have to save those for another day.
We're going across to look after Nate for Crystal at lunchtime and the cleaner is coming this morning as well so a few bits to do first. We've (or Steve has) put some shelves up along a wall in the kitchen and although it was my idea to increase storage space I'm not sure, I'll have to live with them for a while.
Have a good day.11 -
Morning everyone
After a wild and windy day yesterday, it's calm this morning but still raining.
Little one came back to mine after school as her mummy was busy painting - we played with playdoh and had pasta for tea - she was full of chat about her day at school. She seems recovered from her virus now and ate all her pasta followed by ice cream.
I have now written a list of presents I need to buy and have some things in my Amazon basket, so am slightly more organised. I've finished buying for little one, including for her birthday which is on January 3rd.
Nannywindow - nice to 'see' you back - ouch for your grandson - is he going to play again or has that put him off?
Gers I think that's lovely, getting a morning toot!
TA I hope your daughter doesn't have to wait too long for her MRI
I'd better move myself...jobs to do before work. Hope everyone has a good day
