Apply for a Virgin Credit card by 31 Jan 2008 and your Virgin Media account will be credited with a single payment of £40 within 90 days of making a retail purchase or balance transfer.

For full detail see:

Not sure whether this post should be here (as offer is short term) or Freebies (as you get £40 off your bill) or Credit Card section – guess Board Guides can correct if needed.

Be careful - I just applied and was told they would have to close (or adjust) my MBNA credit card account (which I've had for many years and have a very high limit on). He was actually able to access my full MBNA details immediately, including balance details, limits, etc.

No way I'm giving up my hard-earned credit history on my main card.
  • I think they were able to access your MBNA details as...
"The Virgin Credit Card is promoted by Virgin Money Limited and issued by MBNA Europe Bank Limited" from the T's & C's.

Doesn't seem like there is a minimum spend so £40 for free aint bad!

Indeed, this sort of situation happened to me once when I was caught between jobs...my card credit limit was reduced from £15000 to £1000 because they tried an adjustment.
  • Thanks for that, have applied and been accepted. They ask you to ring a number to confirm amount of credit. But numbers says its closed until after the bank holiday --i didn't know today was a bank holiday...will just have to wait and see if its enough. I too have a mbna card.. i know i cant balance transfer to it, but will use it to buy everything for 3 months..

Your next bill will be reduced by £40 when the DD is taken.
If you usually pay less than £40 per month then you should get a 'free' month (nothing taken by direct debit) and then got the remaining balance knocked off the following month.
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!
