Central Co-op (different from Co-op Group) have launched a Scan and Go app where you scan shopping on your phone rather than go through a checkout - like many of the supermarkets have.

It currently has "over 1000" discounts of 25% off certain items. These change each month and each discount is one-time only per user, but you can buy 3 or 4 of each item (varies for each item).

However, app offers often cross over with in-store shelf price offers and the two can be combined.

Current examples for November:

Babybel 12 pack
Normal Co-op shelf price: £3.75 (Asda £3.55)
Special offer co-op shelf price since 8th Nov: £3.00
Current in-app discount for Nov: £1.10 off
Actual price you pay at the moment: £1.90

Ben and Jerry's Mini Ice Cream Tubs 4x100g pack
Normal Co-op shelf price £5.25 (Asda same but currently on offer £3.75)
Special offer co-op shelf price since 8th Nov: £3.75
Current in-app discount for Nov: £1.75
Actual price you pay at the moment: £2.00

There are probably loads of others, the app displays the offers so you can look through any particular buys you are after. Membership prices and student/staff discount also works through the app if you load in your card number before you shop.

Do note this is Central Co-op, not co-op group. This is mostly the old Midlands Co-op and Anglia Co-op stores, with a handful of new ones too.  Scan and Go has been rolled out to certain stores only.

Am I the only person that uses this app? I've never seen anyone else using it and there are some great offers to be had when on-shelf and in-app offers overlap.

Picked up 3 tubs of 500g Utterly Butterly for 75p each last night.

For anyone on the doorstep of a participating Central Coop it's definitely worth exploring.

I think this type of checking out is a step too far, the co-op is constantly in the news about people stealing from its stores, how staff/guards are meant to know what is genuine with this being introduced, I don't know.

Today's bargain tops them all so far...

    Terry's chocolate orange for 10p!

They are on offer at £1 each and there is a 90p discount on the app! Max of 3.

The duty manager spotted me shopping tonight with the app and pointed it out!

If you are near a Central Co-op definitely worth downloading this app!

I am surprised no other MSE-ers have picked up on this app.

I've just got an extra 70p discount on the £5 members' frozen deal, getting chicken burgers, peas, onions rings, McCain Wedges and Cadbury Caramilk Ice cream for £4.30 (actually even less as I have. TOTEM card too and Central still give a discount (Co-op Group have stopped this)).

I'll stop posting about my double discounts now but if you are close to a Central Co-op definitely worth checking when offers overlap on anything you normally buy.
