Job Seekers Allowance Application

I was made redundant at the end of July, and started actively looking for new jobs immediately. I didn't apply for JSA till Sep 18, but with a backdated start date of 1 Aug. I got a text/email update on 10th October saying that they had started processing my claim, but nothing since.
So it's been 7 weeks since I put my application in!. I luckily started a new job last week, but I would still like the claim to be processed, up to the start date of my new job. The money would be helpful as things have been tight, but I also need proof of JSA for my mortgage payment protection policy claim, which is pending the JSA. Is this going to be possible, or will they just try to cancel my claim?

Have you not been attending work coach appointments?"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

I have not had an initial interview or any appointment. Nothing. Just two emails/texts 1) Confirming receipt of my application on Sep 18 2) Saying that they have started to process my application on 10 Oct.

I am not sure how the "backdated" start date would have been initiated. Maybe that has confused the system.
FWIW - It always seems to be that the first thing to do in the event of redundancy is to start the JSA claim. Then start looking for jobs.
It does sound as though things have got "stuck" somewhere in the system, certainly compared to my wife's recent experience, things were processed rather more quickly. Can you make an in person visit to the local Job Centre and ask? They operate an appointment system so will likely try to push back on access but, hopefully, you will get to speak to someone who can advise.0 -
Have you called and chased it? You should have heard within 2 weeks of app for a job centre appointment.0
