PAYE tax 2022-2023

Options
Evening,

I've had a look at my online tax portal to see if the final calculation was done for the previous tax year. I'm a PAYE tax payer - alongside my substantive post I also do some agency work ad hoc. Cumulatively my employment pushed me just over the higher income tax band. Most likely a one off as my hours are down this year.

However, my online portal states that they still havent worked out my final tax for 2022 2023. It says its normally done by October. Given my tax is all PAYE and doesn't involve any tax returns etc - why is it taking so long? At the current rate it is going to be tax year 2024-2025.

  • There can be numerous reasons.

Have you calculated whether you are likely to owe any tax and if so roughly how much?
  • I had underpaid previously in tax year 2021-2022 but my tax code had been changed and it now reads no further tax owed.

As I said, my cumulative pay gross with both my agency work and substantive post combined, has kicked me into the higher tax band, paye had only been taking 20% off my jobs. So I’d expect to owe a few hundred.
