2 yr Fixed or 2 yr Tracker - Can’t Decide

Hi,
with eight years left on my mortgage and my current deal ending in January, I can’t decide on a tracker or 2 year fixed. Both are offered by my existing lender at a rate of 5.49%
I don’t want to lock myself in to a high rate, only to see the rate start to fall in 6 months.
the 2 yr fixed is offered with zero fees but The tracker has a £999 fee.
my mortgage balance is currently £100,000
Which would you guys plump for….

It’s personal preference really; depends what you think interest rates will do over the next 2 years
also if you can afford to overpay are you restricted on the fix to how much you can overpay?
choose the fix if you want security and a fixed amount for the next two years
choose the tracker if you believe rates will drop at some point
Me personally I’d go with the fixMFW 2026 #50: £3,583.49/£25,00007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00
