Hello all,
I hope wise ones on here can help.
I have a widening Diastema between my upper incisors and went to a Private orthodontist who recommended Spark aligners (I had previously been scanned and told I was unsuitable for Invasilign. I accepted on the condition that if the aligners did not work and he had to do any other correctional treatment, it would be included in the quote of £3500.
During the photos prior , the Orthodontist expressed concern with my lower front bottom teeth which he said would carry a lot of pressure of the aligners. (I have to have both arches done because the bottom row need to be pushed back

He proceeded to tell me pushing the bottom row down was essential before he could narrow the diastema in the top row and push them back.
He said that movement down could cause me to need a root canal as there seemed to be some sort of shading which he would not be able to tell the cause of.
He then said it is an extremely small risk if I decide to proceed with the treatment but it's my decision.

After the photos he said it would cost £ 65 if I decided not to proceed with the treatment but if I did, it would be included as we already agreed. Is it right I am charged for the photos if I decide not to proceed?

Confused
Please see the photo - I don't know if I should proceed especially now that it looks like I would be £65 down with just some photos to show for it. I have never even had a filling and have a family history of gum disease

They are carried out an initial consultation and taken xrays. I would say its acceptable to be charged. I expect they have a price list or costs in their terms and conditions. Have you checked their website?

Do you have your own 'regular' dentist? I would get those lower teeth checked out by them and get their opinion on whether they should be sorted out before orthodontic treatment.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Ask them to vitality test the lower incisors. Have you had trauma previously?
