I suppose if you always used the same size pan, you could make a cardboard 'sleeve' for it and put the polystyrene between the box and the 'sleeve'. However, I'm not about to experiment today ...

I like the look of the thermos cooker - just bring your stew/casserole to the boil then no more power needed, just let it continue cooking in the thermos. genius!

Similar haybox thing in the Lakeland sale:

I the bit at the bottom that says
this will be your last opportunity to buy this: we won't be ordering any more once we run out of stock

I wonder if that means they don't sell very well, so it won't be worth getting any more in.

I would guess so, geordie joe

BTW, from another thread, I'm still wanting to know WHY you wash your socks separately from anything else ... PLEASE tell!

When I was married her family always bought me socks for xmas. Every year I got enough to last a year so never needed to buy socks for twenty years. Then I got divorced and my supply of free socks dried up and I had to start buying my own.

At the time, nine years ago, my local market was selling good quality socks for £2 for 6 pairs. I went overboard and started buying 5 packets each pay day, ended up with enough socks to fill a washing machine and still have 2 weeks worth of clean ones in the drawer.

When I came to doing the washing I would leave the socks as I didn't need to wash them when I still had 3 dozen clean pairs in the drawer. So the dirty socks were left until there was enough to fill the machine on their own.

I reckon every pair of socks I own is over 8 years old, but each pair only gets worn once every 3 or 4 months. Last time I counted I had 126 pairs of socks!

A pressure cooker speeds up cooking time and therefore saves money.

Steamer pans are good too, you can cook tree pans of veg on one gas ring.

I also discovered a new use for them today. I was only using two tiers but put the third tier on and put my plate on top instead of the lid. It warmed the plate up nicely. Might not be so good if their are six in your family but for just me it worked great.
