I recently chipped a tooth badly & as it’s already heavily filled, my dentist recommended a crown which is Band 3 £306.80
The night before my treatment another tooth chipped (yeah that’s just my luck at the moment)
At the appointment to prep the tooth for a crown I told the dentist about the other tooth, & as she had time, she completed a filling.
At the appointment to prep the tooth for a crown I told the dentist about the other tooth, & as she had time, she completed a filling.
Afterwards I was charged £70.70.
At my final appointment to fit the crown should I therefore pay the difference of £236.10 or the full Band 3 amount?
Looking online it says all treatments within 2 months are covered but it’s not entirely clear what happens when it’s a higher band.

I've not had anything to do with working under this NHS system - but as I understand it, that is exactly how it works. You'll just pay the difference when crown is done.
Brook2Jack is better on NHS charges than me - hopefully she should see this and confirm. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.1 -
As the course of treatment was already open and had not been completed you will pay , in total, the band three charge of £306.80, so you just owe the balance now.The two month rule is different , if your dentist had finished your treatment and within two months you needed more treatment at the same or a lower band ,that was not due to trauma or an emergency, then you would not pay again.1
