Pre 1988 GMP (inflation uplift) - how to check the DWP calculation?

My dad is claiming a local government pension from before 1988 and the pension paid remains the same, but the inflation uplift is paid via his state pension (GMP). I have checked his state pension and it went up by more than the 10.1% inflation uplift in April 2023. Hence it appears the local government pension uplift is being added somehow. We opened a government online account via direct.gov.uk to check the calculation by the DWP, but I cannot find a statement about how his state pension is arrived at. I can only find his national insurance history. The DWP don't appear to send him a letter or anything about the calculation. The DWP pension service don't seem to have a portal to look at what has been paid to him and how the amount paid was derived!?

(1) How can we find out how his state pension amount is arrived at?
(2) Does the GMP calculation have the reputation for being done correctly, or are mistakes common?
(3) Who performs the inflation uplift calculation? Is it the DWP or the local government pension people?

We contacted the LGPS and they said we have to check with the DWP, but they didn't say how.

Every year he will receive notification of how his SP for the next year is made up.

The uplift calculation of the parts paid by the DWP will be done by them and should be shown on that letter.

Hi Richard.

(1) Read the letter your Dad should get every year before an increase. It is all broken down on there. He will be having letters definitely unless he has moved and not informed DWP ? If he has not got them the State Pension tel no is 0800 731 7898 ?
(2) this is all done automatically and is generally correct
(3) DWP performs the uplift
