Re the DD an increase can take place as long as they inform you. I have know the young lady from the bank for 20 yrs and i dont beleive she would mislead me to be honest hence why she said SO and DDRichard1212 said:Hi----Much the same as other posters. Don't use D/Ds---a lousy "invention" which means you cannot control what amounts are taken from your account. Don't use cards, overdrafts, etc etc.
Don't believe what your Bank told you------set up a Standing Order/s , set the figure you want to be paid at this time and it'll be paid. And your Standing Order cannot be changed without your consent ( and you can change the monthly amount anytime you wish) ------plus, the person or company or bank that you're sending the D/D to , can never alter the amount YOU have told your Bank to pay.0 -

That's true, but if you wanted to change the direct debit amount to a debt collector you'd have to phone or email them in advance of it being taken, and then potentially get involved in a conversation about why you want to change the amount. A standing order is far easier to change as it just takes 15 seconds in your banking app.
