Hi, now back, I've made a drink.
Dark and damp here, yesterday started well, it was even sunny! But soon deteriorated into the usual rain.
Coxy, I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad, that's a blow. I hope he can be kept comfortable, and that any pain can be managed.
I went to the Metro centre yesterday and changed the cardigan I'd bought 2 days earlier. It was busy there, but I didn't stay long. Just had a look in one or two shops, then went for the bus home.
TA your phone must have been red hot yesterday!
The car is still in the garage until Monday but we can manage. There's shopping needed but not much and we can walk to the shops fortunately. The Go Northeast bus drivers are on indefinite strike as of today, so we won't be going anywhere.
Talking of hair colouring, I've had highlights in for 40 years and as long as I can afford it I'll keep having them. The hairdresser has adjusted the colour over the years as my hair and skin tone has changed with age, she's a miracle worker.
Thinking of our poorly people, Coxy and her dear dad, and anyone else who is poorly or sad. Hope everyone has as good a day as they can.
Take care folks.11 -
Morning all{{hugs}} to Coxy and her dadHere at my DS's house on dog sitting duty. Sitting up in bed with the 2 of them keeping me company. Will get up in a mo and do my feeding duty of 2 dogs, 1 cat and 2 lovebirds. At least the tortoise is in hibernation so don't have to feed him too!DH is coming down some time this morning and staying over to take the bigger dog of the 2 for a long walk. He's a bit too boisterous and strong on a lead for me so he'll take him and wear him out!Take care everyone x9

It's grey and murky now though an hour ago the sky was clear and full of stars. First time I've seen them for ages. Our ongoing blocked road has a small piece in the Daily Wail today. A new bit of road is being made from a forest planting track to get round problem as it'll take ages to clear. Should be almost sorted by the end of November. The other blockage is almost fixed as a new concrete bridge has been built really quickly.I'm off down to Glasgow for a couple of days. Today I'm staying with my friend Alan, it'll be good to catch up with him properly. Tomorrow I've got a ticket to see Dawn French at the theatre so I'm staying in an hotel immediately opposite it.Scarlet - yes, I will more likely as not continue with being 'trapped' into the hair cycle. I'm not daring enough or mad enough to go with primary colours though I really admire the deep red of Dianne Buswell. It looks fabulous on her. I think that it's the time it takes which is the bad bit, I'm not a patient client!9

Morning all.
So sorry to hear the news about your dad Coxy. Must be very worrying.
Had to be up early as the plumber is already here to fit a new radiator in the ensuite. Hopefully it will help it feel warmer as it has two outside walls. Also hope he can sort out the pump, which is still going continuously.
After that I'll pop up into town but the day is my own until we go out at about 6pm. We will be fed whilst out so I don't have to make a main meal; always nice to have a day off. Yesterday we did a 6 mile walk with friends then had a pub lunch. We all chose the chilli, which came with lovely little side dishes of sour cream, grated cheese, spring onions etc which you could add yourselves, plus some super home made nachos.
Happy Saturday everyone. Don't forget to change your clocks tonight!11 -
Morning everyone I’m pleased it’s the weekend I woke up at 6 but laid until 7.30 just enjoying the peace and feeling cosy I’m not doing a lot this weekend just the usual dog walking and housework I need to go to the library it’s open a couple of hours on a Saturday morning I’m making some sort of pasta concoction for tonight just to use up some bits I have and then I will sit down and watch strictly. Its dull but dry here I just pray for rain every night to hopefully stop the fireworks for my little dog I have had my wish the last few nights enjoy the theatre Gers . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing8

Morning everyone
I had a nice lie in this morning and a chat with eldest DD - she's been in Stockholm this week for work but has had time to see friends too. She's spending the day with them today and flying back to Germany this afternoon.
DD and little one went to Craig Tara near Ayr yesterday and I will get the train to stay with them on Monday. DD booked a caravan belonging to a friend of a friend, but found out when she got there we've been given a fancy lodge instead - it even has a bath! I hope she manages to have a relaxed week as it's been a bit stressful the last few days with school and little one - it was pointed out, not very tactfully, that she's affecting their attendance figures. I think it's sorted now, we've told them her disability and other illnesses will continue to affect their figures!
I'm going to have my hair cut this morning - in fact I've just looked at the time and I better get a shift on as I'm not dressed yet. Then I'll have a wander round the charity shops and treat myself to a hot chocolate.
Hope everyone has a good today x10 -
Morning all
Pouring with rain again there are some men outside digging holes for the new broadband they must be soaked to the skin poor things.
I have a wash on the go which will have to stay indoors, we put it by the fire overnight and it dry’s quite well we just finish it off in the TD for 10 minutes the next day.
Dinner tonight will be prawn and caper pasta with the pasta we bought home from Greece the equivalent of the WI have a shop and the pasta is so light and fluffy.
Housework to do this morning and then dogs to walk, praying for rain tonight to stop the fireworks.
Have good days all and take care xx8 -
Morning all, thanks Scarlet, glad you got your cardi exchanged. I had to send some boots back recently, even though they were my size they were so tight I could hardly get my feet inIt's dry atm, but I'm with you Izzy- anything that stops the fireworks is welcome!Enjoy your trip Gers.Dp1, that's a bit harsh school saying LO is affecting the figuresChrisca well done for doing the dog sittingWL your pub lunch sounds greatHaving time to post on a Saturday is unusual for me, usually up early to watch DGS football but none this weekend for him or DGD tomorrow with it being half term here, although she's not well. We were meant to be entertaining DB & SIL tonight, he called yesterday for a brew & said she still has a hacking cough that she doesn't want to pass on so we'll postone until later in Nov. Tonight our meal will be using some of the sides like tzatziki and hummus,& DH will probably do his prawn dish, although DS doesn't like them, but there is plenty of chicken left from Thursday nights roast.DB also checked whether I was still doing Christmas so I told him the turkey is ordered. He said my niece has been asked to go to her BFs Gran, she tentatively said yes but added 'but I've been going to Auntie/Uncles ever since I was born'
I'm always flexible anyway,I know it's tricky. When DH and I got together all those years ago we always had 2 dinners, 1 lunchtime ish and 1 later at both sets of parents
Right enough waffle, enjoy your Saturday x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)9 -
Afternoon folks. I'm a latecomer today, but I do have a note! I decided to catch the first bus down into town and catch an onward bus along the valley bottom a couple of towns along. It was thick fog up here when I left but no better down in the bottom. Cold and dreary. There were very few early shoppers about but it did busy up a bit before I set off back. The main shop I was aiming for was a bit of a disappointment with a few unstocked shelves. Nevertheless I did manage to bring back Dolly with quite a bit of shopping in there.
It's now going to be a feet up afternoon under the heated throw. DD is having a fancy dress Halloween party tonight but I am passing on it. There's going to be up to 70 adults and children there and I don't cope well with big noisy gatherings these days. They came back from the caravan yesterday morning and middle DGD came here for lunch and the afternoon while DD and youngest DGD went shopping for more last minute supplies.
Have a nice rest of the day folks and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. Thinking of you with dogs that are frightened by fireworks. When we had our 2 border collies the eldest was always petrified and ended up a shivering wreck. The younger one kept looking at her quizzically, obviously wondering why as the banging and whizzing noises didn't bother her at all. Strange how they were so different. Take care all and be safe xx

RosyRed - yes I thought it was harsh too, especially at it was said in front of little one, who although she is just 4 understands that the teachers have had to be trained especially to look after her in school. It's not like the head didn't know before she started - fingers crossed it's all sorted now.
Well I haven't had my hair cut because I missed the bus! I can't get an appointment till 3 weeks time so I'll be resembling a scarecrow by then!
I still went into town and had a wander and a hot chocolate - I bought 2 pairs of thicker black leggings and a jumper from two of our charity shops. I washed my bedding so that's now out on the line as it's meant to stay dry today. Going to have a tidy now and sort some clothes ready for going away x8
